I've wanted Benning to acquire picks and prospects since day 1. I think the only way to build a successful franchise is to build through the drafts and prospects. A few years of true heartache and rebuilding will lead to many many years of success and being competitive. This half ass retool has set this franchise back 10 years and it's no longer sad, it's comical. - Codes1087
He's NEVER been able to do this Right now the Canucks are a top 10 lottery team. Benning knows he won't be around to see this draft class play, that's why you need to can him before he deals another 1st rounder away to save his ass. |

Hamonic and Schenn, need them back soon - Nucker101
Yeah because they were only losing by 1-2 with them in there. |

Something has to happen. The team is quickly becoming the punchline of the NHL. - VanHockeyGuy
I think the team needs new coaches. |

Boeser doesn’t have a good shot. It’s mediocre at best. - CanuckDon
I agree with this . His shot is okay but it is not an 8 mil dollar shot. He is not even used as the trigger man on the PP . They have QH at the point firing snowballs

Big time
The only way I think to salvage this is clean house. Management, coaching staff (keep shaw) all gone. Benning and weisbrod gone. Put the interim tag on cull or give a 1 or 2 year contract to an experienced coach like Boudreau. Get a GM who can rebuild properly. Sell players for prospects and picks who shouldn't be considered core and start over.
Look at LA. Toffoli gone for picks and prospects. Muzzin gone for 1st round pick. Martinez gone for picks.
They now have the best current prospect pool and are starting to really compete. It can happen, we just have no idea what it looks like cause we have been dealt mediocrity for too long. - Codes1087
I don't think, at this stage, they can or should rebuild. A (bigger) retool, but not tearing it down. They have solid pieces in the lineup – a good trade or two, some good signings for D, and the roster is pretty decent. It will take a new coach and GM to get the most out of them, but it's completely doable. The Islanders aren't some stacked team, but they have a great coach with solid D and balance.

All the years of drafting this is what plays for the Vegas Golden Knights
Nicolas Hague D Mississauga Steelheads [OHL] 105 8 27 35 73
Jake Leschyshyn C Regina Pats [WHL] 13 1 1 2 6
Jonas Rondbjerg R Vaxjo HC [SweHL] 8 1 2 3 0
The last two are pretty much only because of injuries. |

Where does this narrative come from that he has a good shot? Because of his rookie season? It’s been years since we have seen it. Richardinson has a harder shot lol |

We have all liked the core and main pieces for years now though. At some point, it has to be more than a soft reset.

You don't trade a 1st round pick away 3 years in a row.

Meh. Most of the core and main pieces are 26 and under. I get the time thing, but I think a big change in GM and coaching philosophy will do wonders.
But yes, in 2-3 years, a hard reset would be needed if it wasn't working. Then we'd be the Edmonton Oilers |

“I just saw McNabb stepping up on Podz there and it happened so quick out there and right away, I didn’t like the hit,” said Ekman-Larsson. “We need that in our room and in our group to stick up for each other and be there for each other. I think that’s how we’re going to get better at the same time overall on the ice. It happened so quick and I didn’t really think about it and it just came to my mind.”
OEL for captain?

Another person I would consider for GM aside from Johnson is Laurence Gilman. He definitely knows about the cap and daily operations but more importantly he has worked for three bumbling GMs and should have learnt what not to do. |

So the oilers are dog crap 5 on 5 and the canucks are dog crap on special teams, getting those special teams going is vital in winning games. |

Maybe Aquilini has learnt to take a hike too. If he is going to be hands on then you may as well keep the current guy.
