Hey, Mo! The bulk of the "smart people" seem to be gathering their information in front of a television. That's not to say that alternative sources are necessarily reliable.
What it seems to prove is that whoever controls the message, controls everyone else's fate. Not good. (As if any form of truth ever resided in sheer numbers). - gabriel
Hello, Gabe. The wise founders of the republic came from a place where they were largely in the minority. So they thought it important to build in some protection for the minority against the whims of the majority. They called it the Bill of Rights (Amendments 1-10). |

Since you admit that the people with the fancy degrees can be wrong, what specifically makes you sure they are right the next time? I have no problem with following the advice of experts; I just think we should each retain the right to decide for themselves.
The "smart people" deciding what is right for the "little people" is a very dangerous thing, imo. - mohel
While I tend to agree with your premise the problem is the smart and powerful people have been making all the decisions for quite sometime. We are more or less pawns fighting over the scraps. Warren Buffet probably just made 15 million while I wrote this blog post.
I'd rather not listen to posters argue about what politician said what. Both sides of the isle are nothing but loud mouthed blowhards. I'm still waiting for Bush's weapons of mass destruction. Still waiting for Obamacare to revolutionize healthcare. Still waiting for Trump to make America great again.

This is why social media will be our downfall. It gives anyone and everyone a voice and the ability to spread disinformation.
People will believe someone not based on credentials or experience but based on said persons popularity on a particular social media platform.

Dominik Kubalik has been stopped often trying to go 5-hole on opposing goalies this year.
"Even my friend called me like, 'It's enough.' I know, I know...
I can say you guys are not going to see the five-hole for a long time now."
Rejoice! |

Don't know about that, don't care, I'm more upset they didn't find weapons of mass destruction and all those military personnel paid the ultimate price. - BetweenTheDots
Are you just as upset by the Gulf of Tonkin ? That caused 50,000 more American servicemen's death's than Iraq, and not minimizing any servicemen or women's death, or injury.

Brownie's on his game early in the morning, no less! No warming up in the bullpen. Just come in firing unhittable strikes. Good on 'ya, brother.

Preach!
To think one side is any better, morally or empirically, is completely blind and foolish. D's are idiots, R's are morons.
My favorite preface to any statement is "studies show". If you want to know what the studies show, you need to read the damn study. Don't take any media explanation on it at face value because for the most part they don't know what the heck they are even describing let alone how to interpret it, and it is always - ALWAYS - slanted.
I've been part of two papers that were covered by the media. To say they were wrong about both is a gross understatement. |

Just this morning I read about a study that links suicide and humidity. |

So S. Jones singlehandedly accounts for over 60% of the blueline point production so far this season and is second only to Kane in SOG. That, to me, is pretty impressive production. I would like to see him paired with Stillman a bit as I have a feeling they would actually compliment each other nicely. - GreenJeans
Thanks for posting about Hockey. Yes, Seth Jones is starting to look like a very good acquisition. Nobody here, including me, is happy with the price, but it's refreshing to see a big D man with so much skill playing for the Blackhawks. |

It would appear that Johnson is still suffering some effects from the neck injury, Per Roumeliotis:
Derek King on Tyler Johnson: “He’s going to get looked at today. Doctors and trainers, they slowly get to it, and I’ve been kind of busy this morning. I’m out of breath from walking those stairs, we might have to look at me.” |

I like watching a player who seems to be able to keep the puck. I agree that he's looked pretty good to me. Can't do much about the price at this point. |

That's not good hopefully he'll just need a little more time to heal.

I think it would be great if they could settle on a pairing for him as I think it would give him some more confidence to quarterback everything.
I don't mind the acquisition at all. Is the price a little steep? Sure, but there are ways to address that. Not to mention the guy who everyone thinks was a jaboob is no longer calling the shots (behind the bench or in the front office), so there's that. |

Great post. Years ago, little brown radios were issued to keep people abreast of the news. (Their modern day megaphone). Didn't work out for the betterment of the world. Of course, it was later proven that criminals were in full control of the governmental apparatus.
Shifting gears a little pertaining to hockey. What's everyone's guess as to when things get shut down again? Or, will they shut it down? |

You can have one of them in their prime to start a new franchise, who’s your guy….Hossa or Iginla?
My heart is with Hossa, but I’m not so sure my head agrees. |

You're welcome! I come here for Blackhawk hockey talk and yet again it appears to have devolved into a well developed proof for the Dunning-Kruger Effect.
And yes, the price for Jones was too high. We won't miss Boqvist , but Cole Sillinger (taken with our pick) will haunt us, as will the cap hit and contract length. Here's to hoping the other picks we gave up are flops. |

Totally agree. His simple agility is fun to watch. He's the least of our problems.

What would the Hawks D look like with no S. Jones and Boqvist playing his minutes instead? Or who would of gotten his minutes instead? Murphy couldn't play much more minutes, deHaan?, Gus? Mitchell?

At one point, I thought they were tempted to go with Mitchell. But, reason prevailed in the end. Without S. Jones, this season would have been horrendous.

Seth has been solid as of late, but instead of making that deal I would have just traded the 2nd round pick to Carolina for Bean. |
