You can have one of them in their prime to start a new franchise, who’s your guy….Hossa or Iginla?
My heart is with Hossa, but I’m not so sure my head agrees. - Ogilthorpe2
Damn. Great question. I was always a huge Iginla fan. I still give a slight edge to Hossa. |

At one point, I thought they were tempted to go with Mitchell. But, reason prevailed in the end. Without S. Jones, this season would have been horrendous. - gabriel

I have some questions, why are vaccinated people so afraid of unvaccinated people? Maybe the unvaccinated don’t have a compromised immune system, maybe the vaccinated obese or out of shape should focus on boosting their immune system, my $0.02 and I’m vaccinated, but also try to stay in shape, although losing 10-15 lbs wouldn’t hurt. |

That is the narrative the left wants you to believe. You've heard the phrase "Pandemic of the unvaccinated". People believe what they hear on TV, not in a book.

Longstanding model of how to tackle respiratory viruses (doubly dangerous when airborne as COVID is). This has been proposed as a way to get past COVID since early in the pandemic. Our problem, at least in the US, is that a significant percentage of individuals refuse to take (or have given up on) the individual measures and our companies and government have underinvested in or outright rejected using the shared solutions. Meanwhile, the virus keeps mutating, putting efficacy of the vaccines at preventing infection, hospitalization, and death at greater risk.

Dominik Kubalik has been stopped often trying to go 5-hole on opposing goalies this year.
"Even my friend called me like, 'It's enough.' I know, I know...
I can say you guys are not going to see the five-hole for a long time now."
Rejoice! - Chunk
Let's hope Kaner is working with him on how to elevate his shot while in motion. Doesn't seem many on the team have that particular skill. |

Yeah, Jones has really helped this season. People need to stop thinking the trade was Boqvist for Jones. Its Boqvist and 3 other players.
I can make a pretty good argument the Hawks would be better served long term with Boqvist, Sillinger, Bean and a guy drafted this summer than Jones and his contract for the next 8 years. |

You mean like Kubalik ringing one off where the crossbar and post meet? Which happened shortly before he tried to go 5 hole on the 2nd attempt.
Tho, tbf, they probably are having success in practice against MAF. |

I feel like I keep hearing Sillinger mentioned in highlight vids in SM posts...maybe he turns out to have been the real diamond in the rough in that mix. |

Yeah, definitely a glaring weakness in MAF's game. Toews ought to really enjoy those two-shot drills.

Not so sure about the diamond in the rough part. He was getting a lot of momentum heading into the draft. We can debate whether he is who the Hawks would have taken in that spot. I used him more of an example than being an actual pick.
If that makes sense. |

It does...thanks...and appreciate your clarifying that he was already well thought of in the hockey ranks. I'm admittedly not one who monitors prospects too much.
Speaking of...anyone who has watched him closely want to explain why Gaudette keeps getting the Strome treatment? Maybe he shouldn't have talked about crystals and witchcraft?

Kampf was a FA signing for the Leafs. A damn good one, too.
For the price of Khaira and Carpenter, the Hawks could have kept Kampf.
Kampf is starting ~90% in the Dzone and still is plus 50% in CF%. He is an elite shutdown center. Even Kruger never got those types of numbers.
People think he sucks because JC refused to use him properly. |

Grinder coach likes grinder players I guess. I am more concerned about Kurashev having to drag Johnson and Carpenter around his neck.
I can't wait for the day I don't have to watch Carpenter out there with his stick at his waist as a puck goes sliding past him, yet again. |

Personally...3x vaxxed because I'm immunocompromised. Like Toews, broken immune system no matter how many ways and times I've tried to find a fix. So, the "just get healthy" is not a solution for the millions of us with genetic, etc. issues leading to our high-risk. And, selfishly, two years of isolation and being told to "just stay home" and "COVID only kills sick people" is really wearing psychologically on me, as someone who had a "normal," full life before the pandemic.
I'm not as afraid of unvaccinated as I was when we thought the vaccine prevented transmission (new virus, new vax, learning as we go). But there are a couple of reasons I'm still more wary (and, bluntly, resentful) of them than the vaxxed:
- Every scientific study I've seen says the unvaxxed are still many times more likely to transmit the virus. Unfortunately, I suspect the unvaxxed and unmasked Venn diagram has significant overlap, so going to grocery stores, docs offices, etc. where people are unmasked still feels like a minefield to me.
- They are also the predominant population in our hospitals, many of which are were turning away non-COVID procedures and patients (me included) because of the overflow during the peaks. I can isolate as much as possible to stay away from other people and the risk, but I cannot predict medical emergencies and I KNOW that my health is deteriorating because I'm not getting some of the in-person treatments I need.
Just from one perspective. I'm trying to be sympathetic to those who are afraid of the vaccine, and just hoping that as more and more people receive the shots and time passes showing no long-term impacts and they introduce the more traditional type vaccines (in for EUA now), more will agree to get it.
