I don't know about anyone else but HB is the first place I look for medical information.

Can't go wrong with either. Hoss still gets a slight edge for me because of PK ability.

Yeah, Jones has really helped this season. People need to stop thinking the trade was Boqvist for Jones. Its Boqvist and 3 other players.

I can make a pretty good argument the Hawks would be better served long term with Boqvist, Sillinger, Bean and a guy drafted this summer than Jones and his contract for the next 8 years.

- Elbows15

And despite your thought that a late 1st is really a 3rd (or whatever your analogy was) you should stop insisting the trade was Boqvist and 3 other players just for Jones, as if the Hawks didn't get a 1st back in the deal as well.

We can agree the deal was lopsided in the number of assets going to the CBJ. I personally would argue that Jones is better than you make him out to be. The best part is that is doesn't matter anymore since the deal is already done, can't be taken back and all the people who were part of the transaction are not in the org anymore.

Might explain more than anything (except maybe Seabs' multitude of injuries) the precipitous dropoff in team performance after he went on LTIR.

You can have one of them in their prime to start a new franchise, who’s your guy….Hossa or Iginla?

My heart is with Hossa, but I’m not so sure my head agrees.

- Ogilthorpe2

Love Hossa but I’d go with Iginla, better career numbers, very physical but I think Hossa was the better two way player. But you couldn’t go wrong either way.

Kampf was a FA signing for the Leafs. A damn good one, too.

For the price of Khaira and Carpenter, the Hawks could have kept Kampf.

Kampf is starting ~90% in the Dzone and still is plus 50% in CF%. He is an elite shutdown center. Even Kruger never got those types of numbers.

People think he sucks because JC refused to use him properly.

- Elbows15

Phillip Danault (remember him) is elite as shutdown centers go, Kampf by comparison is not.

However, Kampf was still an excellent economy signing by the Leafs even tho there rarely will be any offence coming from him. Just another poor evaluation of talent by Stanbo & Co. considering some of the stiffs remaining on this roster and slotted into bottom 6 roles.

Iginla was pretty good on the PK at the beginning of his career. He played there for the first 10 years of his career and racked up 22 SHP (13 goals). The last 10 years he didn't play there much if at all.

Not my analogy. Its a value chart designed to assign value to corresponding draft slots based on data studied over years.

In simpler terms, CLB has 3 players on their team as compared to 1 for the Hawks. A 4th is pretty much guaranteed based on draft slot compared to the 32th pick. Which prior to this year was a 2nd round slot. The 12th pick has been a 1st rounder since 1967,

Danault also gets to play with better linemates, as he should, but it still doesn't mean that Kampf is not elite in one specific role. Danault has much more depth to his game for sure and he should still be on the Hawks if it were up to me.

Grinder coach likes grinder players I guess. I am more concerned about Kurashev having to drag Johnson and Carpenter around his neck.

I can't wait for the day I don't have to watch Carpenter out there with his stick at his waist as a puck goes sliding past him, yet again.

- Elbows15

It already seems to me that King likes his boys from Rockford. It's the only way dressing Hardman and R. Johnson makes any sense. Connolly has earned a shot at NHL time, put him with Toews and Kubalik, bump Khaira down to the 4th line and plug Gaudette into the 3rd line until T. Johnson gets back.

Probably could mean risking someone going through waivers, but in the short term maybe we keep the wins coming, in the mid term we shed a contract (via waivers or trade), and in the long term we make room for the kids and future signings.

Carpenter is what he is, a 1 mil veteran 12/13th forward. Every team can use one. He'll be gone after this year.

Hoss was physical in a different way.
.86PPG for Hoss +245

.83PPG for Iginla. +30

Numbers are pretty equal for both. Hoss drove offense much better by numbers. Both are great players and I would take either on my team but between the two? I take Hoss ever so slightly.

yeah but he would take himself away from his team for 5 minutes when he did. Considering he was always one of the best two players on those Flame teams, it wasn't being smart.

Hoss also being a huge part of 3 Cups for my favorite team will always give him an edge for me.

I rather have Hardman and Johnson get the experience to see if they can grow into a role. Carpenter can go be a bum on someone else's favorite team.

Hey, you asked for a reason. You said nothing about it being a good one.
