When will Ellis's surgery be announced? Anyone hear how long Brown will be out? Guess lindblom goes right back in. not a bad thing - Peter Richards

So others can look too. What about CF%, HDCA, SF v. SA, FF%, SF%?
Yandle wasn't part of the conversation. Way more Offensive zone starts. But it also proves my point. - Peter Richards

AV says Patrick Brown has a dislocated thumb, went for an MRI this morning. Thinks he's week-to-week. |

I stated it in a previous response. Just looking at analytics can be misleading.

Dominating performance by Risto last night. Looked like he used to at Buff in his first few years (for those that actually pay attention to the Sabres).
Have not seen a flyer dman play w physicality and determination like that since Pronger. Just physically dominant.
Think some of us are starting to understand why 7 plus gms were in a bidding war for his services.
Dominating performance. Especially watching in person.. |

Not sure why there are even scouts anymore. Just is analytics from now on..
Just fill up your scouting team w a bunch of dorks from MIT who have never seen or played a game and have at it. Done deal.

he was good. I will say this. I live out of market but in comcast. I usually have to watch the other teams stream. I can say, the announcers for the other teams bring him up a lot. not that it matters much, but he has been constantly praised by others.
we shall see by the end of the year how he does now that he is out of buffalo and isn't relied on as much.

factually yes lol
When someone says show me facts that so and so is a good player. ......which facts should be used ? I have no idea. People generally agree who is good and who isnt, then someone like Risto shows up and people hate him because he has a bad corsi, or whatever metric they want to pick out. Im not a fancy stat guy, but its corsi generally the stat that says someone is good, or do they look at scoring chances for a forward? I really have no idea. Some times scoring chances are more important than actually scoring which is crazy to me |

right. the problem with analytics imo is, they are just stats that can be measured in a game...i.e. hits, shots against. There are other parts of the game it can not place a number or be represented with statistics. it can be a helpful tool no doubt.
get what you're saying completely.

a tool to use is correct. Gives you some guidance is all. Doesn't tell you many other aspects of the game at all. Like everything it isn't anything close to an exact science.

he was dominant, winning board battles, good zone clears, being physical against a physical team. Everything you want a dman to do, he excelled last night. I hope he can keep it up.

Let me guess they are still living in the past by honoring former players? You mean like every other organization ever, anywhere does?

His stance on that is really preposterous. I think it's pretty clear based on this and previous work that he has a bug up his ass. |

Knowing the way your mind works, I would for now rather have the Qb1, who I suspect is the handsome dude who squats 600 lbs, played for 5 coaches in 6 years, shows tremendous poise and crunch time moxie, and is improving steadily (and hope his weak arm, his inability to read pre-snap coverages, his penchant to lock in on the 1st read, and not be able to throw the slant can be overcome with learning) over Carson Wentz.
