The Wings aren't better offensively though. We're better offensively than the last 2 years but that's not saying much. And more so that's to Raymond. We're not getting enough from the 2nd line and on down. Ras has been a huge disappointment so far this year. As been some other players. Losing to the Yotes I can't even say the frustration that goes into that. Scoring one goal against the leagues worst team doesn't cut it.

You immediately contract yourself by saying they aren't better offensively, then in the next sentence acknowledging that they are. If your point is simply to say "yeah, they're better than last year, but still bad," then ... well, yeah, I mean that's correct. We are in agreement.

I never said the Wings had a good offense. All I said was that it is markedly better than last year, which is absolutely true. In fact they are nearly half a goal per game better than last year (2.7 vs 2.23 goals per game), which is a huge improvement. The thing is, when you are as bad as the Wings were last year, you can improve significantly and still be not all that great.

Anyway, I stand by my assessment:

- better offensively (+.47 goals per game)
- worse defensively (+.35 goals against per game)
- overall slightly better (+.12 net GF/GA vs last year)
- more exciting (0.82 more total goals per game scored/conceded)
- still bad (24th in league is points percentage and 25th in goal differential)

Fully agree that the secondary scoring is nonexistent and that Ras has been bad (though I didn't expect him to be anything else). Fully agree that there's a lot of work left to do. Fully agree that the Yotes game was miserable, frustrating, and embarassing.

Wings are on another 4 game losing streak. The last time this happened they moved Suter to the top line and they won the next two games and actually got some secondary scoring in the process. I'm all for doing it again. I think putting Larkin on the second line may actually energize it... he can certainly make it better. We'll see if Blashill can think outside of the box a little bit and see what happens. I'm going to guess he won't change anything... we'll see.

I'm OK with this. My hope is Seider & Raymond have awesome years and we see progress from Veleno and Zadina, along with improvement overseas and in GR for the prospects. While I'm certain the league will never let the Wings get a top 2, I'd like them to at least have a shot at it. If they can get a top 2 either this year or next, they'll greatly improve the rebuild.

Guys, I've been in contact with Jeremy. He's hit a bit of a rough patch, but is OK. He's taking a bit of a break, may be on to give us an update in the next day or so.

Jeremy's been an AWESOME friend to all of us during trying, troubled times. He's respected differing opinions, encouraged respectful discussion, and given us lots to discuss as rational human beings; something woefully vacant in the world today. In that light; let's keep the discussions going in the same way that Jeremy's laid out for us. Focus on hockey....and respect.

Take a minute to send him some good vibes in your chosen way, be that prayer, a good tune, or just good thoughts for a good friend.

Vancouver thinking of trading Miller and/or Boeser???? I would like to see Brock come to Detroit. Would McIsaac and the Caps 2nd do it?

The Kracken's Nathan Bastian finds himself on waivers today, anyone interested? I think he might give Smith some competition.
