Being from Toronto obviously I have a lot of friends that are Leafs fans. Before the game in a group chat, one buddy asks if Alexander Lafreniere Daigle is playing tonight which I responded with, "That's the same question I ask about Matthews and Marner during the playoffs". They didn't like that too much lol - Rangers99

That 3rd line was their best line last night. Maybe that's why GG didn't move Gauthier up on the 1st line because they were generating a lot of chances. But yea I do agree that Goodrow needs to be dropped from the 1st line. |

And the team was annoyed at the face off disparity, which hopefully means they will continue to work at it. The frustration was pretty palpable, especially on Strome, which should be the case when you are 1 for 12 between the dots - airjan23
not sure how you fix that without changing personnel in some fashion. doesn't seem like whatever they have been trying with the current centers has been working. |

I think it comes down to the right coaching. There's no way they can just keep getting unlucky all these years with players that can't win draws. Whoever they are bringing in for the coaching staff just isn't getting it done. The retired referee was a nice idea but he watched a lot of draws, he didn't take any, at least not at a pro level. |

That seemed like a "we tried everything else now let's think outside of the box" approach |

Seriously, get someone on staff that was solid/elite on draws. Preferably someone who has played somewhat recently since there have been some rule tweaks. |

Can you think of anyone recently on staff that was an ex player that was legitimately good on draws? Because I can't. |

I really do think the outside the box approach would be to have players that are good at it take them regardless of position. Maybe its another thing that Fox is the best at ?

Why not? I think Lafreniere looks good on draws. Maybe have him start taking them. He doesn't need to be the "Center". Thought it wouldn't hurt. |

i dont think the rules for draws have changed that much - stop being an age discriminator - there are a few things my generation could teach yours

I think it would be better to find a guy currently in the league that can win faceoffs right now. It was mentioned a few weeks ago about Pavelski possibly from Dallas. Dude is awesome on faceoffs and can slot in as a top six winger.
On a more direct note, maybe getting someone like Glendening from Dallas would work as well. Great on faceoffs but a bottom six player. Knows his role and does it well. When Chytil and Strome and Mika faceoff against this guy in practice the will get better.

Glendening and Pavelski in one trade would be awesome. Glendening bumps hunt out of the lineup and moves Rooney to wing. Pavelski can play RW on the Panarin line and take the faceoffs. Boom.
This is what Drury is saying though:
“Chris Drury, the general manager for the New York Rangers, is looking for a middle-six forward, which isn’t a term we use often in hockey,” Darren Dreger explained on TSN’s Insider Trading. “That can be a third-line player or someone who can punch into the top six.”
The choice of words sounds like Drury is getting the word out that he isn’t panicking by qualifying the need as a “middle six” forward. In truth, he is likely looking for a second line right wing. |

it's probably too early for Dallas to pack it in so it's unlikely that trade will occur anytime soon anyway |

Kravtsov and a pick have to be worth more than one year of Pavelski and 2 of Glendenning. I'd say something like Robertson and a mid-late rounder or I look elsewhere.

Looking at their roster, seems like Gurianov would/could be a good swap for Kravtsov. A little older, plays both wings, showed promise last year but could benefit from a change in scenery. Gurianov + Glendening for Krav???? Get some more G's up in this lineup |
