The expected goals against, or basically the number of high danger chances we give up, are not nearly as rosy. We are near the bottom of the league. So it's a bit of a mirage that we are great defensively. However it's indisputable we are getting outstanding goaltending.

But I agree the big boys are still working up their 5v5 mojos.

For example ...on ice 5v5 GF Kerfoot 15 ....Marner and Matthews 8. The big boys should be about a goal per game historically.

Muzzin's play has definitely appeared to be stabilizing and Holl lives and dies by Muzzin's standard.

Not sure what Liljegren did to deserve being relegated to the press box but I don't like him rotting there when he is waivers exempt. He needs ice time and I thought he was looking pretty solid. Kind of feel any mistake he makes is hyper-exaggerated at this point.

Really solid 2.5 periods by the Buds. I like the timing of Keefe's timeout to halt some Rags momentum. Campbell is locked in.

You are skewing the stats by looking at direct totals. Leafs have played 18 while some have played as low as 13 games.

Looking at natural stat trick a good way to look beyond the skewed numbers which is HDSC SV% where the Leafs are 12th and still a top team in GA...so not this unworldly goaltending you are talking about.

The Leafs have been limiting chances among the best.
