Team gets blown out 5-0 in atrocious effort
"But Dahlin"
Love it - TheSabresTaco
The season was accepted as a loss from the beginning while a continuing concern in these blogs have been, how will the young core handle the season with so many lows. How is management going to minimize the risk of bad habits setting in?
Adams won’t make any deals to help, as long as Granato doesn’t start chasing Kruegers losing streak, the show goes on.

Top team in the nhl
Top 5 center in the league goes down to injury
Guy plays 15:56 of ice time

Off topic rant:
Congratulations, MLB, the starting pitcher - once the most dominant position in sports - is now about as important as the running back. Neither the AL nor NL Cy Young award winner averaged 7.0 innings per start. Neither averaged 6.0 innings per start. 5.9 and change for both. Are you kidding me? The Cy Young should be going to relievers as they are far more important in the modern, unwatchable game.
Meanwhile, a total mediocre SP, Noah Sindergard, (not the caliber of either Cy Young winner this season) is going to make $21 million next season to average probably 5.0 innings per start with a 3.8 - 4.5 ERA. And, that's a steal compared to Cole's Yankee money.
If you have any hint of a budget ceiling why on earth would you pay a SP past his ELC? Load up on good relievers and position players.
Meanwhile, as ratings demonstrate, I'm one of a couple million who have tuned the sport out because it is unwatchable 80% of games. Walk, HR, strikeout is killing this game. The only thing saving baseball for me is it still makes great background noise on the radio when I'm working on something in the yard during the summer. I didn't watch an inning of the World Series though, like the rest of America. |

indeed. There will be highs and lows and 500 has for a while been an acceptable high water mark. Can't let these bad games, regardless of how strong Calgary is this year, become a habit. But my guess is they bounce back in short order.

they played a clunker the other night vs the pens, and the goalie stole them 2 points
I expected a better response last night |

I wouldn't call it a clunker against the Pens. Pens just brought the heat in the third and Tok stood on his head and the team hung on for dear life. So to be fair in the honest sense, it's been 4 bad periods of hockey. Again I feel like they'll bounce back. Gotta trust Donnie.

Calgary was by far the strongest opponent we'll have for a while. Rags Boston Wings Habs Jax and Krak up next. None of those teams have the ability to choke you like the Flames. |

just another in a long line of whipping boys dating back to barrasso or even further...
expectations met?...not by a long-shot but my god, this is supposed to be a bottom-five team (or worse) and he's logging the most minutes on the sabres |

I think it's more blundering simple plays sprinkled in with wow here and there
it's a marathon now and we are all hoping the owners will hold the line instead of another knee jerk reaction

To me it's the wrong game to blame him. I think Hank's article said it best: it wasn't a terrible game it wasn't a good game for him. Calgary had a very relentless quality last night that's going to do them well all season long. I think it was a team wide panic in the 2nd period, And that is troubling to me because it looked a lot like the 3rd period of the Pittsburgh game.
This is on the coach to fix and fix before the Rangers game Sunday night. |

Lol
I'm not completely down on dahiln, he just needs to bring some points to equal out his defensive play.
I'd like to discuss the 5 hits by great28 last night.
Showing the kids the way to last place.
1st real "dud" of the season
Some really great passing and excellent nhl hockey last night by Calgary.
Big and fast team. Definitely see them as a legit playoff team ☝️ |

excellent rant on baseball...and that part about walk, hr, k?...it's analytics driven, with players being taught to swing for the fence; it's fan driven as we're told they love the long ball; it's team driven as they've made their home parks more conducive to home runs; and it could very well be league driven as they've been accused of using a tighter wound on the ball to make it fly farther...
for as much as i dislike the yankees, those teams of the late 90's/early 00's played small-ball to perfection (among other things) and won...all those above-mentioned factors effectively stomped out that style |

I think this is where the frustration stems from
this is the norm for dahlin, not an outlier which is ok if your a 4th rd draft pick (bryson)

mixed bag, but expected effort to be more consistent
maybe it's hoping rather then expecting
maybe it's because they started out taking 11 of 14
when you see them start hot w/o casey and joker you wishfully move the goalpost |

the sabres have a rookie head coach...for as great as he's been overall concerning player development and style of play, he's gonna get outcoached...not only does donnie meatballs have a talent deficiency, he also faced two teams in pit and cgy who have two-time stanley cup winners behind the bench |
