Hughes has brought down Tanev in the past and now Poolman. Tanev had the best WAR in the league last season. What do you think that says

and now Tanev is bringing up Oliver Kylington.

- manvanfan

Kylington goes from healthy scratch to leading the d in scoring. But hey Benning wanted Schmidt.

How about that salad bowl Rick Vaive is sporting in the Flying V. Another goal scorer the Canucks were impatient with who went on to score 400+ in his career.

I'd never noticed the numbers by the wrists.

Hughes is still very young, he just turned 22 a month ago, there’s PLENTY of time for him to round out his game.

The only thing that would have made them better would have been if they wore the cooper-alls.

Could you imagine them in yellow?

It's the future. So shiny! Getting closer to an 80s Arnold Schwarzenegger movie by the day.

Tanev and Hughes were a decent pairing. While Tanev's WAR may have been affected negatively by playing with Hughes, the overall pairing was a benefit to the team.

That's the point: provide the kid with a defensively responsible partner so he can provide the offensive production.

- RealityChecker

That doesn't mean Poolman sucks. Tanev doesn't suck but had the same results with Hughes as Poolman.

Hughes and Poolman have a 5v5 GF 5 GA 3.

Poolman and Hughes also have the highest 95.52 On ice SV% among regular pairings.

Ok, so what does that have to do with you saying Poolman sucks?

The TransMountain pipline, where BC gets 90% of its gas, has been offline since the flood while crews check and make repairs to the lines.
@mikefarnworthbc says pipeline company has 200 ppl working to check it and hope is it can be up and running at some point next week.

How much are they charging for fuel, if they have it, right now on the island?

No. He should be an offensive defenceman, that’s who and what he is.

I don't think Tanev had the same results. He had a good season with Hughes and is finding success in Calgary.

You point to him being away from Hughes which surely contributes but so does playing with a better defensive team as a whole.

That's not to say that Poolman sucks but if he doesn't pair well with Hughes, it's on Green and JB to find someone who will.

The point being that if QH is a central piece to the team's future, they have to find ways to make it work.

This shouldn't turn into a "does QH really fit in long term?" because JB already answered that with the contract.

Another JB long-term contract mistake. I have no problem having offense from the defense, but not a 7 million for a big time defensive liability, who is arrogant and easily pressured.
