Calling Koivula up was a joke of course but Barzal has been pretty inconsistent this season along with the rest of the team. You are correct he’s going to have a helluva lot more adversity to fight through now. Pretty impossible situation this team is in.

Yep. Couple that with uneven or middling performances from the rest of the top 6. The fourth line has been terrible all season imo on both sides of the puck. You can count on them getting torched pretty much every time they’re on the ice. Mayfield has been awful. Pelech was the only consistent bright spot on the back end before he caught covid with Pulock being 2nd best before he got injured. All around bad followed by a covid outbreak. I get this an incredibly tough situation but we’re not seeing the effort from the players we should be win or lose imo. There has been zero desperation out there.

Beauvillier flubbing that backhand after he had Woll beat. Also missing the net on a few other chances like the rest of the team. They didn’t want to shoot and when they finally did they missed the net. They better snap out of it. Another few weeks of this and I’ll be joining tank nation for a shot at Wright.

The guys that are left are doing a damn thing offensively. The defense is compromised. By the time the regular roster is all back, this team will be out of the last playoff spot by 20+ points. This roster can't score, can't defend and won't beat ANYone.

At the end of the day, if you can't score, you won't win. And they cannot put the puck in the net. Too many guys absent plus when they WERE there, they were manhandled by the better teams in this league. I hope you're right and that they will turn this around and go on a run when all the guys are back.

Agreed. Too soon to know. The season is far from over. However, if the Isles lose the next few games in regulation, Lou may need to change his focus from win-now mode to restocking the prospects and picks.

With most of the team either out due to injury/Covid, or simply playing like crap, I don't think it makes sense to give up that first, because I doubt that there's any one player who can turn things around.
