Bottom line is these guys just aren’t playing. If they were out there working with this lineup and continued losing it would be no harm no foul. All three of Pageau, Beau, and Barzal flat out gave up on multiple plays last night. Stopped skating or completely lacked a second effort on plays that were routine for them in the past. I get their games have become exponentially harder with the lack of talent up and down the lineup but to me the effort more often then not just isn’t there. To me that’s completely unacceptable and I would hope Trotz is aligned with that.

What’s really insane is Sorokin’s .928 sv% right now. How he has been able to maintain that in 14 games is beyond me? Feel terrible for the kid he deserves a better fate and players that at least give a rats ass skating in front of him.

I only got to see the 3rd period last night. Isles seemed to be working hard, but were just inept at scoring. Sounds like missing the first 2 periods proved to be a good idea.

I watched Trotz in his post-game presser single out Koivula for good play. I was a little surprised, because Koivula had maybe the best chance of scoring (in the 3rd) standing in front of the crease, but it looked like his stick was tied up when the puck came to him.

Koivula has an Oleg Kavasha like appearance to me. Someone who could probably play but never puts it together. Who knows hopefully I’m wrong about him. As far as the rest of the team’s regulars their play was/is inconsistent at best. I think that’s the nicest way of putting it. Complete lack of effort at times imo. As I prefaced all of these posts I get their jobs have become exponentially harder but as a pro the effort should always be there. Blind, unforced, passes, to the opposition and zero second efforts don’t usually depict effort. It’s very Bailey’esque

Oleg Kvasha I seem to recall that Yashin didn't want him on his line.

Now retired from hockey.

The first 10 minutes they were overwhelmed but settled in after that. They worked hard last night. The effort is there, however the talent is lacking. That said you can work hard but not smart and that is killing them as well. Barzal has been complete trash. Working hard but just making stupid decisions with the puck.

I mean he’s definitely the one who needs to drive that line especially now with the depleted lineup. Looks like he’s missing his favorite Winger who’s now in Russia.

“Careful what you wish for” as they say…has many potentially negative implications. Wanting youth in the lineup and Leo off first line has been a desire for many of us on here. I’m guilty of both but not to this extent but holy sh!t I didn’t want this much youth in the lineup!!

I have to agree here, between the 3 players mentioned above they had 61 minutes of ice and only 2 shots on net. Benching is needed from time to time.

Who are are you going to bench them in favor??? The parking lot attendant, the beer guy or the zamboni driver?

That’s for sure. It just goes to show you need a team and not individual stars.

NHL postponed #Isles games through at least Nov. 30. Up to eight players potentially in COVID protocol.

A facking week too late. This league is a goddamn joke.

Edit: November 30 is only 3 days away. It may not make a difference anyway.

I guess this means another player is on covid protocol now? If they just decided to do this now just because my head will explode.

Reading there was “potential” for new cases that’s why they postponed the next two games. Are you (frank)ing kidding me? That’s what pushed this over the edge for them to reschedule games? How was this not done a week ago? What a god damn joke these clowns may have axed this teams season.

It’s a joke the more I read why this decision was made. My only question is why wasn’t it made earlier?

Unless the team told them not to, then realized what a stupid decision that was and changed their mind, I have no idea.

Not for nothing, but the 'potential' was there when Bailey tested positive over a week ago.

As contagious as this virus is you are 100% correct. The league blew this big time and unfortunately The Islanders will pay a huge price.
If in fact the Islanders wanted to play the games and the league went along with it makes it even worse imho. Firm protocols should be set and not waiver from them under any circumstances.
