Keller? I bet they'd love to get out from that terrible contract they handed him. 7.15 for an inconsistent, sub 50 point player. Yikes. - eternal_flames
sure, add him to the basket , I just think it's a long shot with that contract so Armstrong will probably just ride it out.

Pittsburgh will be super desperate. The closing window factor. The expectations sub-factor. The players leaving in free agency (ie E4 that Malkin goes to the Caps). Current season is going good factor. Injuries have played a factor but they are getting healthy so normally that's a negative factor, but the combo of getting healthy AND adding via trade is like a double booster.
All that said, big desperation score. We know they are asking about Gallagher. But everyone needs centers so Marcus Johansson is a sneaky target. - HockeyBuzzed
Gallagher will address the grit factor.
Johansson will address the center depth factor.

There is no grit factor and center depth factor. But those could be potential sub-factors under how the season is going. Revenge factor is big. I could see the Oilers making a move due to revenge. |

Oh? I was positive that a couple years ago Ek listed both the grit factor and Center depth factor as being keys to playoff success?
Maybe he added to his list. Here is Eklunds list of most important factors from 2015:
To me the most important factors in playoff success are...
#1. Hot Goaltending
#2. Special Teams
#3. Health
#4. Matchups
#5. Your Top Players BEING your Top Players.
#6. Depth on the Blueline (Being able to have as many as 8 NHL D-men because of the War of Attrition.
#7. Playoff experience as a Team
#8. Leadership
#9. Players who have won elsewhere.

You're getting confused. You listed playoff success factors. This article is about determining which teams are the most desperate to make trades. So Pittsburgh might have the highest desperation score, but it doesn't mean they have a high playoff success factor score.

Tell us all again how Brady Tkachuk is never signing long term in Ottawa and is 100% going back to St Louis.
Your incessant Tarasenko crap is on about the same level.

Agreed. Everytime I see his name at the top of a post I cringe, and I'm a Blues fan. Truly awful.

Penguins have a closed window they just are in denial about it. Their core of Letang, Crosby and Malkin are all on the decline and the support is simply not there. They remind me a lot of where the Blackhawks were in 2017. It's time they acknowledge it and look to the future or risk being a 2018-2021 Blackhawks or worse a 2016-2021 Redwings.

Disagree. Ek has a category called "Open, but Closing." That's the Penguins. The core is aging but as Ek said, teams that are "Open, but Closing" are sometimes the most desperate making the biggest changes. If they were closed then they wouldn't be looking at adding Gallagher and MAF. I could see Marcus Johansson too. |

I would say NJD, NYR, NYI
the three teams that should have traded for tarasenko in the offseason when he was cheap. LOL - BlueTaco
He wouldn’t be doing us any good on covid protocol locked in a hotel somewhere like a third of our team. |

With Don Sweeney still calling the shots...It would going exactly the same. 1 line team with 1 D man and loose poops filling in the rest of the roster.
Also get new material that poop 6 years old. |

Why don't you tell us, all knowing?
What are you going to do when he re-signs long term in Calgary and is named team captain? Because it's going to happen. Who are you going to obsess over then? How about Taryn Tkachuk, the sister? She went to play field hockey in VIRGINIA...she didn't need to stay in St. Louis so daddy could hold her hand, either. You're an oddball, BlueWaffle. |
