incorrect. the conversation was between me and another poster 2050 i believe, about the players we would've like to sign over nate. JD 250 brought up Brassard a day or two before and we were all discussing. You jumped right in then.
You said there was a reason nate was signed on day one of free agency and kept asking what team signed brass. that he was not sought after for a reason and even implied he may not be signed saying he was washed. when we did sign him you said it was a desperation move.
the entire point of the conversation was....there were better options out there than nate in free agency. - Peter Richards
Agreed, MJL is mostly always incorrect. |

going to the game tomorrow night, while I would normally take winning 1 out of 2, we are going to need to win tonight and at least get a point tomorrow. If the Flyers get worked in SFL, my buddies at the game will be unbearable. - wcorvette
God speed man. It’s just like the grief I get any time the leafs beat the flyers. |

Agreed, Yandle started out looking great but has completely lost it. The same goes for Farabee who started out on fire and now looks totally lost at both ends. Yandle is just winding down but Farabee is really hard to understand. - joegreif17
I wonder if yandle is getting too many minutes. He hasn’t looked good at all of late. |

They were a laughing stock last season. They were non-competitive. So why would anyone use last year as a measuring stick for the team? That's a joke. That was the point of my post. It doesn't take time to rebuild from that. They could've done nothing and would've been better than that debacle of a season.
If they won't be a contender with the moves made then why make them? Why bring in older players who are only going to decline? A player who needs to be resigned. More steps forward. Like what, trade Konecny for Hertl, which was your suggestion the other day? I don't want them to blow it up. I want them to not get into more bad contracts and draft and develop. Did Fletcher make the right decisions last off season? - MJL
I actually agree with most of what you posted here. Except you are not going to make any moves that will turn last season's team into a contending team. It has to happen step by step. Did Fletcher make the right decisions this off season? Only time will tell, but consider its not just the trades and FA signings, its also the extensions he signed that must be considered. |

Gostisbehere Yotes leading scorer, and he's not even a minus for the season on a team with a -35 goal differential. Can't make it up. - PLindbergh31
That is one weird team. Stralman. Kessels. Beagle. Roussel. Dzingel. Chychrun.
No rhyme or reason behind the construction of that team. |

The reason was to tank and gather as many picks for the 2022 draft. Job well done.

Heads here complain just to complain. Constructive hockey talk is great but the complaining over a 4th line dude, is goofy. - Flyerz74
Thompson has not been effective either at 5 on 5 or on the PK. So why is bringing up how to improve that goofy?

The Flyers shifted into a win now mode. Away from a build for the future or a step by step mode. So judging whether the team is a contender this season is the proper criteria. Especially when many of the moves made are far more likely to hinder their future chances than help them. Hopefully Fletcher consider not making some extensions.

Purpose of comparing these 2? - rayc16
I assume because Ghost left and Risto came.
Too small a sample set, completely different divisions. I will say this though: if someone had asked me who would do best: Myers in Chi, NP in Vegas, Jake in CBJ and Ghost in Coyotes, I would have ranked them exactly in that order, precisely the opposite of what we see.

I wouldn't do it that way, if that is what you are insinuating. I would keep every single guy who is young and has some potential and get rid off every older guy who is not good enough to take us to the promised land during their realistic time on roster and will just screw up draft position.
That ship has sailed for us.
The thing you said about Dave Scott should stay out of hockey etc You are like the guy complaining that a restaurant owner who sets the menu for a profitable restaurant should stay out of the kitchen. Because you want beef and they went vegan.
Yeah, good luck with that wish.

Who gets the start in goal tonight?
If it's Hart, I wonder if AV may be considering he also starts tomorrow night regardless of tonight's outcome, considering Jones got the last start against Boston. |

Dave Scott can poke his nose in all of the business decisions he wants. The best way to have a profitable team is to build a quality team. Dave Scott has no clue about how to do that nor does he have experience in that area.
A restaurant owner most likely has experience in all facets of running a restaurant.
Dave Scott also doesn't own the "restaurant"
There you are again telling someone what they are like. Can I tell you what you are like?

I get it, but 2 different skillsets and expectations. Ghost to Yandle would have been more appropriate. Comparisons are tough as you pointed out.
I would have had Jake at the top of doing best. He's still a good player. People just soured on him here because they want a shooter. |
