On todays menu we have…

I like the Noah Dobson deal but what is with this Kevin Fiala fascination people? I would keep Miller over any trade involving him unless it contained a 1st as well.
Edit: Actually still don't want Fiala just picks and prospects

Bo Horvat and Tanner Pearson are wearing bottom-six white, while all of Pettersson, Boeser, Miller, Garland, Höglander Podkolzin are sporting top-six blue.
Expecting the club to show some new-look lines shortly. |

Agreed, any Min trade for Miller or Boeser has to involve Boldy. |

They don't have to trade either of them right now, drive up the market price for both of them. |

THIS!
Miller is 17th and Brock is 60th in the NHL scoring over the last 3 seasons.
So a top producing L1W/C and a top 6 winger is worth what at the trade deadline?
More than Kevin Fiala...lol
and the return for Miller has to be better than the 1st, 3rd, and goalie we gave to get him.

Maybe if they tried Pearson off of Bo's wing Bo wouldn't be playing like a bottom 6er? |

If Benning feels he needs to trade Miller to fix Chemistry and try to salvage the season, TDL will be too late. Personally I think the season is lost as long as Green and co are still coaching. Shaw is the only one I would keep. |

I don't get why you hate Fiala so much. Based on your same "last 3 seasons" standard, Fiala is 53rd – ahead of Bo and Brock.
Getting Fiala, who is 3 years younger than JTM, plus a 1st or a higher prospect would be a worthwhile trade. If the new GM couldn't sign him to an extension, then he becomes a high end trade chip at the TDL after playing the year with Petey and you get more assets for him. |

IMO, if this team is going to be trading away top end producing NHL talent, then it is scorched earth time. Picks, prospects, and full Tankasaurus. No trading for RFAs / UFAs unless, like you pointed out, they are flipped for more picks and prospects. This is already hard enough trying to get value for our own guys, let alone acquiring more guys to deal with...cause JB/Canucks...lol |

People are already talking about the draft, JB's desperate for results, you can't let him deal high picks 3 years in a row unless it's an amazing deal. |

I just don't see it as an either or situation. Teams like Colorado and Edmonton have been in the position the Canucks find themselves now with a core of young players and some high end older players that aren't in the same age window. They didn't go scorched earth to get where they are, and I don't think the Canucks have to either – unless you think the core (Petey, Boes, Bo, Hughes, Demko) aren't good enough to get it done.
Trading JTM for a younger "top end producing NHL talent" that aligns with the core's age better AND getting another pick/prospect is a good start to redefining the team's window. Clearly fixing the D should be priority number one, and would rather trade JTM/Boes for a solid top RHD, but Fiala would be a solid addition IMO, given that it's not a 1 for 1. |

I don't think Petey is the player he was or has been portrayed to be, so I wouldn't be building around him. Not my type of player. My biggest fear is that they do something extremely stupid, like mortgage more of the future to make the playoffs this season. As has been stated, JB is fighting for his job, and FA is fighting for playoff revenue. Very scary prospect this is. So say we make a trade for yet another 1st to "get in the dance" yet we miss by just that much. Then what? Yet another pick traded, have to qualify Brock at 7.5, and the kicker is do JTM and Bo want to stay in this rudderless shatshow ship without a President of Hockey Ops at the helm after next season? To me, it is time to really assess what we have currently in this group and if there are any glaring concerns with it, then its time to blow it up and rebuild correctly from a PofHO down. |
