Oh hell no he isn't, and if he did it would be a terrible contract that would handcuff the team down the road when they're ready to compete. - NewYorkNuck
Unfortunately I think this is supposed to be the ready to compete phase.
Well I think everyone's fear is they push chips further in to try and win this year. But that's not really the hypothetical we're talking about.
I agree they need new management. I don't think anyone should be traded until a new Pres, GM, and coach are in place. But I still think JTM needs to go – not only to sell an asset high, but because the long-term look for this team's timeline and his age/cap/contract situation just don't line up. - NewYorkNuck
I agree, his next deal will be an Albatross for sure with the age factor. I think we are in agreement on virtually all points so far. Just differ possibly on what the correct direction of the franchise is. I find that NHL GM's for the most part, still don't have any clue how to operate in a salary cap world, and as such can't value their player assets correctly as when to buy, sell or walk away.
Yes ALL was an exaggeration. But seeing your post just brought back those memories.
I dont recall even seeing you on those threads.
Beeker#3, Esplen, Hankthetank, Bloated, thundachunk, Marwood, whiskydoucheface, and more all arguing how Shink was the steal of the draft. Esplen said he had him ranked third overall and Beeker said 6th.
But then again Esplen also had Frank Corrado as a future team Canada Olympian.
So many said Barkov was going to be a total bust.
Not looking to argue just reminiscing. - TurdFergeson

i hate the guy and he's in a totally different sport but they need to hire bill belichik. that guy has absolutely no loyalty to anything but trying to win.
and hiring an nfl guy to run an nhl team would be a totally canuck thing to do, so there's that!

Obviously the main difference between the NFL cap and the NHL cap is no guaranteed contracts, so you suck, bye bye. But the NHL GM's seem to not get when the foundation isn't correct, don't keep building expensive add-ons to it. They seem to chase it, ala the Sedins era, longer than they should. I guess they are always fighting to keep their jobs...

This team doesn't need projects. 90 percent of its players are projects.......

Aqua doesn't even want to pay a complete front office staff, there's no way he's paying Belichick his 18 mil a year salary to come
Just got off the phone with a buddy who told me his Daughter is moving to AB Dec. 1st so his 2 Grandsons who are amazing hockey players will be taking their talents to AB. They are having their Christmas this weekend before they leave. He's told them that he will disown them if they play for the Flames.

Totally understandable. Kids need boundaries and tough love sometimes. Otherwise, you run the risk that they turn into criminals, druggies or Albertans.

When my bother lived in Toronto my nephew was terrified to cheer for the Leafs in case his uncle found out.
