If they tell him he’s gonna eventually get waived or not get playing time he might come here
- sbroads24

Well that’s a pretty specific hypothetical
Is there any rumor that the Leafs wanna dump him?
And if they did….
Are we gonna be the only team interested?

I suppose it’s possible
But it still seems like a reach to me

You really think the Sabres management just looked in the mirror and decided they need a goalie?

I'm not sure how much our goaltending is holding back or affecting our players ?

Most of these kids are just happy to be in the nhl .

Maybe a guy like dahlin is already sick of losing but,

They tried to keep Ullmark.

I don’t think Anderson and Tokarski was the plan

Campbell has played well, as has Woll, and if they want to extend Campbell, who is a pending UFA, they will need cap space, and it makes sense for a team like the Leafs to not be paying roughly $9M per season combined between their 2 goaltenders.

Yes, the issues are Mrazek being open to playing for the Sabres and the potential cost of acquiring Mrazek.

Trading for Mrazek might be a move that has to wait until the offseason or until Toronto can extend Campbell.

That's fair. 👍

I'm 50/50 on the ullmark signing.

They seemed to have tried to sign ullmark for along period of time. Maybe they thought they were close?

I think the loss of our entire "core" was an easy reason to tank again. Pandemic, canada border closed....

Couple great drafts with high end talent...

We know ownership isnt going to draw the line and learn from past mistakes.

Tanking does work. It also doesn't work ☝️

Circumstances and plans often change sir.

Further, how often do the Sabres even have a clear plan, let alone stick with one?

Bringing in a legitimate NHL goaltender would likely not make much of a difference ultimately in the standings this season, but it would show the coach and players that management is at least supporting the effort to try and win.

The current goaltending isn't just incompetent, it is an outright embarrassment.

Both teams will be ahead of the Sabres at the season finale.

Habs aren't going to throw in the towel.

Isles system will be choking out teams again soon.
They will trade and improve IMO.

sabres gonna get younger , if anything. Less experienced

Just 5 on 5

Sabres have given up 44 goals - They have 34 expected goals against

10 more than what they should have.

And that’s with a few great performances early on.

It’s trending in an epically bad direction

I think they wanted to bring back Ullmark, but they made the right move in saying no after he used the Sabres to get the Bruins to agree to the 4 year, $5M per deal, especially after he went back to the Sabres asking for more term and more dollars.

Couple really good points :

I think they have a plan in place currently.

They rid themselves of every veteran costly longtime loser they could.

They planned on losing their year, and they are sticking with it.

An good nhl goalie is the difference between 18/20th place or 28/30th place.

Basically the difference of a top center or a guy we see in 2024.

Well, we knew Montreal was not good. Carey Price decided to play like vintage Carey Price; that and Caufield going full Ville Leino/Bryan Bickell/Joel Ward were the only reasons why they made it as far as they did.

And the Isles have been decimated this year with guys in and out, especially on defense.

Am I the only one who is constantly confusing Cole Caufield with Holden Caulfield?

I'm personally not sold on ullmark and/or if the Sabres management was.

He was often injured, never really proven.

Big bucks and term

They also began the season on a very long road trip due to the completion of their stadium.

Teams like the islanders do not finish below teams like the Sabres.

Playoff cup contenders vs. Turds.

The bold is where we differ, as I don't believe a quality NHL goaltender makes that large a difference.

I'd estimate from bottom 3 bad to 7th to 8th overall bad.

I'm fine with that delta if it boosts morale and shows the players that management will not allow them to be a total embarrassment.

Not to mention the fact it took him 11 years to get there. Let's even throw out his rookie year because of that bozo Melrose, so 10 years.

So, 2028 for the Sabres then?

- Wetbandit1

Didn't Stamkos also play in a grand total of 1 playoff game the first year Tampa won the cup with him on the roster?

Does seem more likely to be an offseason move
And like i said before, i don’t think he’d actually wanna come here

Worth a call though i suppose
I did bring Mrazek’s name up a few years ago as a guy to look at, so i wouldn’t be opposed to him IF (and that’s a big “if”) he’d agree to come here

Kinda seems like Holtby is an obvious target though

tough call

https://www.espn.com/nhl/...inst/dir/asc/group/league

rangers have allowed 52 goals, scored 56 and are 8 games above .500
the islanders have allowed 51 goals, but have only scored 32 so they are a bottom dweller

the teams that have allowed 60 or more goals are pretty bad aside from vegas and the wild
