Yeah I mean who would want to try to make the playoffs in a league where 52% of the teams make the playoffs every year?

We're Buffalo we should know our role as losers and stay there.

- lacaprup

I disagree. This is not the year to rush any of the young guys development path. Let them grow together in Rochester. Plus there is no way in hell the Sabres are making the playoffs this year - even with Hasek in net. Anderson (when healthy) and Tokarski were a solid duo when splitting the pipes.

Next year, Eakin, Hino, Hayden, Count Drake, Dell, Anderson are gone. They'll be replaced with Quinn, Peterka, Krebs, Power, UPL and Samuelson. Sprinkle in a good goalie through a trade or free agency and you have a really solid foundation to build upon.

Yeah, it sucks that they are losing - again. But the games are entertaining as hell and I think there is light at the end of the tunnel. This is not the year to rush things. Let them develop the young guys and grab that top 6 pick.

I don't care if they keep all of them in the AHL all season.

Keeping them in the AHL next season is where I greatly disagree.

- kingcong39

Yeah, I think two if not all three start next year with the big club. Eakin, Hayden, Caggiula and Hino are all gone. That will be a nice injection of scoring from the kids replacing those guys. Hino I still do like somewhat.

5-4-1 with avg. goaltending
- DirtyDan

If they had average goaltending all season, they'd be pretty close to 7-9-2.

I get why people are focusing in on goaltending, but this isn't a strong team in other areas.

they got 4 strong wins from anderson and one from tokarski

you could make a case without those 5 strong performances in net, they would have 5 or 6 less points in the standings then they already have

I could do without Ruots and our 50pt d, Collin Miller as well. We just really need that righty for Duhlin.

Strong goaltending, or goaltending that steals you a few games, isn't exclusive to the Sabres. Every team gets that at one point or another during the year. Why are we the only team that, when we get a stellar performance from our goalies, it's looked down upon?

Somebody needs to teach Dahlin how to take the body and not get sucked into dekes and stick checks all the time. I used to pay D many moons ago up here in the Great White North. They drill it into your head at a very young age - take the body - and don't look at the puck when defending one-on-one. I get it that Dahlin is an offensively gifted D-man but it sure looks like he was never taught how to take the body. Dahliin is 6' 3", 207 lbs. It shouldn't be a problem for him.

I have noticed in recent games that pint-sized Bryson takes the man better than Dahlin. Bryson understands the concept of leverage and angles better than Dahlin IMO.

How many games did Hasek steal us, where we had no business winning? I bet it's dozens.

Bryson had a couple good plays against McDavid taking the body. Bryson's looks like he has tree trunks for legs.

Everything is fine. Team is taking the year off, so I don't have a ton of interest in them atm.

Even Anderson, who was playing well, still had a negative GAR value. Goaltending is definitely *a* problem.

Anderson was playing terrific on the PK though

you don't get hasek's in todays nhl when you offer 750k or 725k though

again I stand by my stance with the current owners and the last 11 seasons, expect nothing to go the sabres way

I like that he's fearless, too. He knows he's quick enough to recover. Has some swagger. Perfect bottom pair guy, if he keeps progressing.
