Jeremy, I echo the sentiment of others here, while we would not want to loose the best blogger on HB you must take care of yourself first. I hope you can find a way to overcome your current struggles so we can continue to enjoy your hockey writings/views for years to come. Wishing you a quick & full recovery.

Fabbri and Caps 2nd for Girard

Don't see it happening. Yzerman not a fan of small defensemen.

Don't see it happening either but not because of Yzerman not wanting it. I can't see the Avs dealing a signed young defenseman for Fabbri who will be a UFA at the end of the season. That would be a very steep price to pay for the Avs for what could be a rental if Fabbri isn't re-signed. Plus they are trying to win a cup so i'm sure they want to add to their depth and not trade some away.

A pending unrestricted free agent, Fabbri is set to turn 26 years old in January. While he currently carries a $2.95 million cap-hit, that number projects to go up on his next deal, potentially in the $3.5 to 4 million range. Given that manageable price tag as well as the fact that he is in his prime, the Red Wings may look to extend him rather than send him away. Of course, if the right offer is on the table, Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman has already shown that he isn’t afraid to pull the trigger, regardless of who is departing Detroit.

As a middle six winger with 60 career goals through 267 career regular season games, Fabbri should appeal to the Avalanche as player that can provide secondary scoring now and into the future. His versatility as a forward would give them lineup options as well – something that undoubtedly would come in handy as injuries and other things of that nature pile up over the course of the season and playoffs. While Fabbri and Saad aren’t exactly comparable in terms of how they play, they fill similar roles, and if Fabbri can line-up next to a playmaker, he would provide the kind of depth scoring that the Red Wings have gotten out of him since they brought him over two years ago.

Apparently, he is a "win now" option. But if I were Sakic, I would go after Boeser instead, and Girard just might be nearly a one for one deal, as the Nucks need a good LD.

Yeah i would say that would make much more sense for both teams. I think the Wings would need to either sign Fabbri or let the Avs do it before a deal is made for it to make sense for them. They can also just keep Girard and look to add a rental or two near the deadline and deal Girard in the off-season when more teams/options would be available.

Maybe I’m missing something but I think the Nucks would love the deal but not Sakic. I liked Boeser before his injury but he’s not the same. The few times I’ve watched him this year, he looks slow and I wonder how he fits into that high octane Ava offense.Seems like a lot to give up. 5.8M cap hit and an RFA.

You have something there, for sure!
Maybe Sakic will go shopping in the Habs line-up for a forward. Montreal sure could use a puck moving D-man like Girard. Toffoli + a 3rd (maybe more) would be a good get.

As a joke i said in the Canucks thread Ras and the Caps 2nd rounder for Petersson and one guy was like done deal I wish he was the Nucks GM as i think Yzerman would take that deal and run. Wings would finally get that offensive center for the 2nd line.

Kind of wish the Wings would have traded for Kuznetsov last off-season when if was rumored they were looking to dump him and his salary. 7 goals, 27 points in 21 games so far this season.

I wonder if the Caps management leaked that rumor to get Kuzy to work his but off to regain his mojo!
