He can score, he can steal, he can be a real scumbag. Great for the locker room - ClaudeFather
No chance they take a chance on him with the baggage. Faking covid info. Drama with the wife etc and this is obviously not new for him. Drama central. We’d be struggling to score while dealing with days of our lives.

With all the kids that were running and screaming. Didn’t realize risto played up with provie last game.
He has been adjusting and doing better lately. Where’s the analytics crew. Risto has some of the better numbers on the team for d men. How could this be?

There are more deserving players for the Flyers to waste their cap/roster space on than E Kane, who will never be an integral part of a Stanley Cup championship team.

The Flyers have Captain Comfortable, one of the best leaders in hockey. Surely he can help with Evander.
Maybe this is the shakeup this team needs. Someone with some baggage instead of all the vanilla bland robot players they have now.

Also. Wisdom was activate. Wonder how long until he dresses for the phantoms.
Also moot point really. Willman can only do so much. We already know bunnaman only offers so much as well. - Peter Richards
Wisdom practised with the Kingston Frontenac yesterday….I think he’s going to play in the OHL this year.

Risto had a few bad shifts in his first two games. Since then he’s’ gotten more and more comfortable and been good since about his 4th game. He’s been one of the bright spots this year. I think he’ll start to produce offensively as time goes on. I think he tops out as a very good top 4 dman that could fit on any NHL team in that role.

Yeah. When you don’t have size/physicality you can counter with speed. Well we don’t have that either. Hopefully soon this will be addressed as well. - Peter Richards
feels weird no one telling you that you are wrong.....people must be still sleeping

I think he the Flyers best defenseman to be honest, he was once again the most solid defender for the Flyers against Florida the other night. The problem is once in a while, at least 1 time per game, Risto makes really questionable decisions trying to take someone out when maybe he should stay back and defend. I will take these mishaps once in a while for what Risto brings overall, which really solid defense, good slot coverage, tons of board battles won and general intimidation of the other team!
No it's a very bad idea and your numbers are not correct.
You cannot buy out a player in the middle of a season.
A buyout of JVR would result in a cap savings of 2.6M with a hit of dead cap space of 4.3M in 22/23 and a cap penalty of 1.3M in 23/24 - MJL
Yes I know you can't buyout a player mid season. The rule is its 2/3 of the remaining contract value, if the player is 26 or older at the time of the buyout which JVR clearly is. If the Flyers did buy JVR out this offseason they would save $2.4M overall and more importantly would gain $4.6M in cap space next season so Fletcher can make more deals.
Have you reviewed Rule 56, Interference, 56.2 yet? - MJL
Yes I did, and I understand your point. I am just trying to understand why the ref staring right at the play did not call a penalty, there is no way he could have missed it, thus I wonder if his reasoning was it was a simple stick lift and thus not a penalty. I posted at the time it happened, before any one else, that I didn't understand why that was not a penalty because to me it clearly was.
Is what you state in your final sentence in this post a new development? All Summer long you were saying that the Flyers would have no problem trading JVR.
- MJL
Yes, I was hoping JVR would have a similar season to last season but clearly he isn't, thus as I stated currently he has no real trade value.

Brian Engblom during the Lightning broadcast the other day was praising him and also said that he thinks Risto's offensive game will begin to get going as he becomes comfortable in his role, and that the Flyersverse need to be patient with that.
