More later tonight, but hearing Montreal has permission to talk to former NYR Jeff Gorton. Do not believe this is for the GM position, but another role. We will see how it develops.

Technically they're not fired, they're relieved of their duty. The contract is still valid and the teams continue to pay them.

My understanding is that if MTL signs him, rangers are then only on the hook financially for the difference if I remember correctly
