No, no one had had success in the past 10 years IMO. It's about team success, and Couts and Giroux have not done enough. You can argue about not having players around them, but this team hasn't been nearly good enough for a decade now. Their last REAL playoff series win was in 2012 against the Pens and that's a joke. I don't consider the win against the Habs a REAL playoff series win cause they wouldn't have even made the playoffs if not for the virus.
- Phillywhiteout

Okay then you refute your own post and your statement of Voracek not having success. The reality is that players such as Voracek, Giroux and Couturier are not the problem. The team as a whole around them is the problem.

Flyers placed ghost on waivers. No one wanted him. I think 31 gms aligning on something probably tells you something.

Let’s not act like we were any good w ghost and Jake in the lineup last year.

Please spare us the analytics nonsense w Jake as well.

most teams werent able to claim him and fit him under the cap, so it doesnt tell the true story

So what if the off-season when only three teams were willing to take on his contract. Two of the three wanted more payment to do so. Why

I don't think it was about trust. They wanted him to escalate the situation and get more aggressive. Hextall smartly refused. Look at the situation now. Instead of a younger developing team, we now have an older, aging capped out mediocre team. Worst position a team can be in.

Hextall added a franchise potential goaltender, a top pairing defenseman. A 2nd pairing defenseman. Two top 6 level wingers. 4 other NHL players as well as the potential for 3 more. Unfortunately he was not able to add that star level skater but in 5 drafts, his record is solid.

The Flyers lost faith in him as a GM. If they believed in his plan he’d still be here. That’s his failing. Yes, exactly, his drafting record is solid. Zzzzz.

Hextall wasn't close to building the team he wanted to build. This organization lacks the patience that is needed and now this team is in a big hole.
- MJL

get off his jock already. Saint Ronnie failed. Was a big hole when he was here as well.

He should have been given longer so we could have added more Nolan Patrick’s, JOB’s, German Rubstov’s, Isaac Ratcliff’s ….Christ what were they thinking firing him….you sign a guy like JVR for 7 million on a long term deal it’s obviously a win….oh wait that was top management getting impatient with him? That wasn’t his call.
God only knows what else Hextall had in store for us.

Saint Ronnie also ran point on the andy mac contract dont forget.

They didn't lose faith. They lost patience. Any expectation that Hextall could've completely turned the team around in 4 1/2 years from the situation he took over is just ignorance. He was doing what needed to be done. Team management and many fans just didn't have the stomach for it. They also don't realize that the team is still in the same spot. Still waiting. Only now in my worse shape.

His record is solid. Solid = average fn andy. Which in case you have not noticed isnt good enough. This team is in this mess partly because of your hero.

All of what you posted is an opinion by the way. Not a fact Cliff.

The team isn't old. The age is skewed by a few free agents on cheap 1 year deals. Funny how you wanted them to resign ex selke when they are nowhere near contention; same with CC.

It’s like he was the only GM that drafted players into the NHL. Drafting isn’t determined the day of….it’s something that really can’t be judged until a few years down the road…we now see it on full display every night.

I don’t see what the difference is. They would have had plenty of patience if they believed in him.

Landing several lottery picks helped.
Landing Panarin in FA helped.
Fox and Trouba forcing a trade to the Rangers also helped.

the other teams are irrelevant as talking about the flyers. Though Jones forced his way to Chicago.

The difference is simple. Team management wanted to start winning right away. Hextall wanted to be patient and draft and develop the team. It's looking pretty clear that team management made a colossal error. Things could change and they need to get healthy but I don't see this team being a contender.

What a concept. No other team has ever went that route. Smartest guy in the room that Saint Ronnie.

Colossal error in firing him get the phuck out of here with this nonsense. Made an error in his replacement. By all means that is fair to question.

Gorton was the GM of the team for 5 years and 10 months. The Rangers are playing well and have potential but 6+ years they're still not a legit contender. During Gorton's time as GM, they made the playoffs twice, won one round and missed the playoffs 4 straight years. It's amazing to me how some have no grasp at all of the facts and routinely distort the facts to float an agenda and a narrative. Sources who claim they know better and state that Hextall didn't get it done in 6 years.

I’ll give you fox. As that was sneaky. They went after trouba as part of their rebuild.

They went after and signed pansrin. Hextal big signing in his time was jvr.

Rangers cleared house and drafted high. Yes. We also got a lottery pick.

They did a rebuild. Not a twenty year retooling process in a results orientated business. They told their fans this is what we are doing and executed said plan.

When hex left he said they were close to the next phase ( second phase). Phase three was a couple more years down the road. If he knew it was that far away why not clean house and acquire more assets.

The teams aren’t irrelevant when you’re trying to say no one wants to play in Philly when the reality of my point is they only wanted to play in NY; theres a fine difference between avoiding a specific city vs only wanting to play for 1 specific team.
