I believe the plan was for Hextall to draft and develop a young team that could be lead by G and Jake, an then augment the team when they were ready with good FAs. I didn't have a problem with the plan, but the execution was terrible as it turned out. The drafting, and even more importantly, the developing did not produce the fruits that were hoped and the FA signings really didn't work out. Its why the team is where they are right now, and as a fan I'm quite frustrated. - jd250
Which is the same problem the Sixers had with tanking.....the draft is too mercurial EVEN if you have top 3 picks as in the Sixers case.
I still have no problem with accepting the fact the rebuild failed but it CANT stop you from cutting your losses and trying again. This team is going nowhere. |

The best thing that could happen to this organization is if coots goes down long term. They would have no ability to win. Easiest way to tank - Just5
God what I wouldn't do for Shane Wright.

The Flyers have put major road blocks in their way in the last few years to rebuilding the team.

Yes, they have. Which makes it all the more frustrating. |

Watching the Blues on the CI package, I keep wondering what might have been had they not got the booby prize second overall lottery pick and kept Schenn...all the alternate realities that might have occurred..Ughhh

I'm sniffing out a Devils 5-2 win tonight. They are a swift skating team and the Flyers are not. Jones in net and he is due for a clunker. |

will you quit it with that nonsense. only thing they lost was a 1st round pick, the rest were inconsequential.. you just keep repeating the same schtick, culture, traded our future. you arent convinicing anyone. So come up with something new
or explain the road blocks..... all those 1 yr contracts, ya thats gotta be it |

They couldn’t. If they wanted to improve. ANY team can AFFORD any player if the player is a difference maker for that team….JVR although a decent producer was not that player. - landros 2
Well you can spin this anyway you want but you said Toronto couldn’t afford JvR coming off a career year. Toronto could, they just went in another direction by signing to better and expensive player. |

MJLs not wrong. If they were going to "rebuild" you don't trade young players and assets for older players. If you don't like the young players you trade them for picks or other young players. The management isn't entertaining a rebuild. |

But they WERE rebuilding. That's the point & then hung onto the older players for some reason.
I still trade Couturier.

Flyers win tonight - rayc16 Wish I knew you personally cause I'd like to place a bet. I don't see it. Then the Flyers play the Rags Wednesday. They catch a break that isn't a back to back now, so maybe they have a fighting chance. The Rags and Devs are fast teams. I hate em both, but both those teams have young players that can actually play at the NHL level. |

Jake was obviously the problem. Everything's fine now. Cam is awesome defensively. Stanley Cup here we come! - Tomahawk
What were the other options? He also wanted to move on. But doesn’t matter. We had to clear cap. Saved 2.3 mil and got a player back that can play in the top 9. Supply goals and better defensively.
So what is you solution? Who would’ve been your cap casualty.
So we can move on and the same nonsense won’t be posted daily. But not surprised. Same people still talking about Ron. |

When will you do a prospect update? There are still some at the college level who might surprise or any hope elsewhere ? |

Cliff Cliff Cliff when are you going to comprehend and accept that changing the culture doesn't have to equate to winning.

Best thing that can happen is they continue to lose. No need to wish injury on anyone.

The failure to draft and develop properly is the biggest roadblock. Signing middle of the road free agent also doesn't help.

well ronnie had 8 first round picks so we must be in good shape with our prospects |

NAK has more points with the AVs than the entire 4th line has all year I believe. Good thing they kept nate and brown. |

Plenty of blame to go around and yet Cliff thinks Saint Ronnie did a very good job. Has nothing to do with the current state of the team at all
