So, it is not 50:50. Thats why I should man up and bring it closer to 50:50. Makes perfect sense.
And of course I haven't. - PT21
No, you should make a bet where the odds of the outcome is not so highly in your favor. Every time you make a wager, it is because you are confident in the out come. Then you claim others won't take risks. It's embarrassing for you. Then you dance around odds because in another instance of braveness on your part, you make the money 50/50.

I think it was overly obvious that changes were needed…it does become a challenge to make the ‘right’ changes. Did they move all the ‘right’ guys out and bring in the proper pieces? Did they do enough? Should they have aimed to bring in a difference maker talent? (Easier said then done). I can’t think of one of the guys they moved that would have helped with today’s issues….how do I know this? Because I watched all of them play last year with the same results and they weren’t the answer then….just like they wouldn’t have made us any better today. - landros 2
Hmm. I dunno if I agree changes were needed from a hockey sense. But yeah, they were inevitable from a business sense.
I know I am a minority here, but the reason I am saying the first line above is because I would have just stayed the course and shed older contracts and piled on youth and gone for the better picks with a few bad seasons, and reloaded for a few years down the line.
but then, you know very well by now how I think about this matter. |

The issue with your plan is that you can't just have a bunch of young players without veteran support. A big flaw in the Flyers development of young players is how they slot them. That set Hart back, Myers back and others. Young players need to break in with veteran support and slotted in the proper roles.
If you don't agree that changes needed to be made from a hockey sense, that is disqualifying. The real question is what are the right changes? |

That only works if the young guys can step up and contribute. In a perfect world, yes you try and build around a young core. I simply don’t see the talent level of the younger guys being as good as the older guys.
Yes I do know how you think the Flyers should have or even should proceed…noted…again…

Then get more, better, younger guys. You don't stop doing the right thing because it failed the first time.

what good young players did we lose? - bradster
Did I say that? We lost guys that still have a chance to be good players, but that wasn’t my point. I said management isn’t going to rebuild. |

The flyers missing on Patrick, Rubstov, and O’Brien being a big question mark have hurt the flyers.
No matter what way you look at it teams need their 1st rounders need to contribute. |

No team hits on all their first rounders. That being said, striking out on the 2nd overall pick is a hard blow to recover from. |
