If they can't find the French guy they want, them they should just hire some random guy to be GM and put the guy they want to run everything to the AGM. - Mashadar
Bell center parking lot guy, congratulations on your nomination.

I find it a bit strange though that they would hire Gordon. normally you let the next GM pick who he wants to work with. |

perhaps it actually is the new GM's choice, and his nomination just hasn't been announced yet...

yeah, no
oh! you mean the new GM has been signed but not yet announced? that'd be cool. |

yeah, I'm a bit worried about who they'll hire as their new GM, there are a few interesting candidates that would fit the bill but not that many, I feel it would be very easy to make a huge mistake here... I know a lot of people see Bergevin as the most incompetent guy ever right now but I'm not so convinced that replacing him with basically anyone will automatically equate to a major improvement. - Pat1993
I am not worried at all

That is why I wonder if they have already identified the new GM and they are working to put his team together before they clean house.
Maybe Gorton is just a Mellanby replacement, but I think (or probably just hope) it is more than that. |

if it's to replace Timmins I'm all for it. I would have preferred a ti-gars de chez nous, but I'm ready for anyone if it means the clown is out. |

Very intriguing situation in Montreal. We know Scott Mellanby is out. He resigned. We know there’s interest in Jeff Gorton. Geoff Molson is running point on this and it’s believed, Gorton is targeted for a very substantial hockey operations position.

I can’t see them do any worse. If MB doesn’t go this team is not going to turn around |

And Lebrun:
Hearing that Scott Mellanby had extensive talks with Habs owner Geoff Molson at first about becoming GM, then that changed to perhaps becoming president of hockey operations. But he was told yesterday he was out of the running. So he resigned today.

I find that is a very naive way of seeing things, there are certain types of people out there that could definitely do worse...
they won't re-hire these guys but they're just an example... Bergevin made mistakes of course but he wasn't such a turrible GM either |

good, not that Mellanby is incompetent but I think they need a new fresher mindset, nominating someone internally would be a disappointment for me

Just read on the Nucks blog Mellanby had talks with Molson about the GM's Job. So did He leave because the answer was no ? - Benny Blanco

I rarely hear about Scott Mellanby to be honest so him being here or not doesn’t really matter that much |
