yeah, I'm a bit worried about who they'll hire as their new GM, there are a few interesting candidates that would fit the bill but not that many, I feel it would be very easy to make a huge mistake here... I know a lot of people see Bergevin as the most incompetent guy ever right now but I'm not so convinced that replacing him with basically anyone will automatically equate to a major improvement.

That is why I wonder if they have already identified the new GM and they are working to put his team together before they clean house.

Maybe Gorton is just a Mellanby replacement, but I think (or probably just hope) it is more than that.

Very intriguing situation in Montreal. We know Scott Mellanby is out. He resigned. We know there’s interest in Jeff Gorton. Geoff Molson is running point on this and it’s believed, Gorton is targeted for a very substantial hockey operations position.

I rarely hear about Scott Mellanby to be honest so him being here or not doesn’t really matter that much
