Oh I agree… unless Mik and can overcome Bunting or Kerfoot in the top 6 he’ll be given half a dozen games to show his value and get moved I’m willing to bet
Drop Kerfoot into his 3rd line role and then rotate Engvall with Simmonds until the trade is made.
Then trade Mikheyev, bump Engvall back in full time, and use Clifford as the 13th forward - Dozzer
Yeah I think honestly getting Clifford you look at that side there is Bunting, Kerfoot, Engvall, Simmonds, and Clifford. And Engvall also can play fourth line center IF needed too. So there is some ability to move guys about the lineup still and cover.
I think really would like it to be Holl moved, Dermott bottom pairing 5-6-7, and get another 3-4 guy but maybe just enough to get a vet d there and Biega is depth there with some experience.

I thought Bergevin had this season to figure poop out. Guess not. Maybe the execs wanted him out before the playoff run and now found a reason. |

Yeah I’m just trying to be clear that I agree with you and I’d love the leafs to be able to carry a 7th d man with NHL experience.
I just know it can’t be done with who they have as long as Mikheyev is on the roster. And I highly doubt he gets moved til he plays and shows what he’s worth.
It’s either that or drop someone like Liljegren and only bring him up as needed (since he the only one clear of waivers) |

I have no idea why Bettman wont let his Yotes die already. Hockey has never really worked there at all going back to when my dad was on the Roadrunners there. Sheeesh. I think yeah they likely wind up in Houston and the Aeros return which I would love to see.
Florida could be the east team moved to bring back Quebec though kind of almost wonder if Melnyk finally winds up out and it is Ottawa that ends up moving which I wouldn't like BUt MAY make sense there in the end too - Roadrunner75
Dozer is right about why they'll do literally everything to keep them in Arizona but in my opinion, the league is stupid for it.
Ottawa actually would make some sense, too. Not saying it'd be good to lose a Canadian team, but they're literal nothing, so it makes sense. |

I hate Tampa but I like you so I promise that even tho I don’t prefer it I won’t be upset if Tampa wins…. Does that count? Lol - Dozzer
Not anymore. Tampa already lost. I needed support when it was 2-2. |

(frank) that noise.
I got Vasilevskiy and I need a goalie win to break the tie. Need Tampa to come back and win this one. - GreatGigInTheSky
(frank) that. The guy I’m against this week has vasilevsky. I needed them to lose. |

Man looking at all the heads rolling or resigning and getting out? Ducharme likely won't be there too much longer as coach I don't think either. Writing is clearly on the wall.

Simmonds is the opposite wing.
The left wing is Bunting, Kerfoot, Ritchie, and Engvall before Clifford.
And Engvall doesn’t just play the LW or C, he’s also capable of playing RW as well. Hence why he’s worth more value than most people give him. For instance he’s playing the RW tonight on the 4th line because Simmonds is playing the RW on the third line due to Kase’s injury. |

Oh right forgot Ritchie and Simmonds on RW. Duh moment there but yeah. I think honestly it is decent depth right there and Semyonov is still there in the mix too so.... I just think Mik has become expendable at this point. |

He's not a very good coach, so I can see them keeping him around as long as they want to lose. And fire him when they believe it's time to start winning again. |

They won’t trade Mikheyev until he plays and shows his value because right now they’d be lucky to land a 7th pick for him. I’d bet that they’d currently have to give him away like St. Louis gave Clifford to the leafs.
Hence half a dozen games so he has a chance to show so capability… then move him for even a 4th… that’s my expectation anyways |

Question is though who comes out for him to go in? And with us winning I really would hate having a pouting Mik on a bottom line or worse killing our mojo on the top lines.
I agree with you just.... damn if this screws with us winning that is gonna SUCK |

I think you get a new GM in? He is out at that point. The GM is going to want to set his own guys up and put them in place even if losing just to start to set the culture and tone for going forward. |

Play him on the 2nd line, drop Kerfoot to the 3rd (the one guy the leafs have who’s both decent offensive and defensive) and bump Ritchie to the 4th. Have Simmonds and Kerfoot flip back and forth for half a dozen games and then move Mikheyev when the team knows his value. |

Yeah just hate him being in there bumping Kerfoot down when he has been really solid with JT and Willy. Has to be done there but...

New GM could for sure go that route, which is 100% their choice. But if I were the new GM and I realised that that team is going nowhere fast, I'd hold off on bringing "my guy" in until the team gets a bit more set.
Bring your guy in too quickly and it could lead to an early firing if things go wrong.
Unless they can get an all world coach that is in demand. Then sign that guy immediately. |

However the game against LA where Kampf was pulled out for a bit he moved to third line as it’s C and scored. (Assisted by Kase)
Keep reminding yourself that it’s not a permanent thing, just a selling bump up for Mikheyev. |

Holl isn't depth. He's a menace to the team.

Ha. I don’t dislike him that much. Sometimes it’s players like him that shine in the playoffs. |

I don’t hate Holl, the issue for me is that in order to be able to afford Mikheyev and a 7th D (at league minimum) under cap once Mikheyev and Mrazek’s salaries are back they need to clear about 2 million. Hence why I mention Holl. |

You’re right about that. Personally I think Dubas will shuffle Lilly up and down. The leafs are pretty good at working around the cap.
Someone will end up on ltir probably sooner than later. |
