Like what he's done? Ristolainen has been pretty bad, Ellis doesn't play. Outside of a hot start, Atkinson has been pretty pedestrian. What has Fletcher done that has worked? - PLindbergh31

Wasn't it a pleasure watching a top defenseman like Hamilton play tonight? Man I wish the Flyers had signed him. - MJL

Now you know that is not happening. What may happen is if Risto wants a $6.5M+ for 5+ years type of deal, CF may balk at it and I would too. The way Risto has played this season, with all the ups and downs, I think his current number is where he should be, and I personally would not pay him much above $6M per. - jd250
That is what made this trade so bad -- cf overpaid for a mid-level D man with no term left on his contract |

Not much on the UFA market this year, he'd strike a pretty big pay day from somebody stupid. - Tomahawk
Haven't looked who is a free agent; guess that would play a part.
I dont see him getting a raise. We shall see. Though cant argue the some GM is stupid part at all.

Niskanen was his best move, but even that didn't work out in the end. - Tomahawk
Agreed. Fletcher had a decade in Minnesota and did a poop job. It was a bad hire from go. |

Yup, Hamilton is a great defenseman ... SO WHAT! What does that have to do with the Flyers?? Hamilton signed with whatever team was willing to pay him effectively a max contract for a defenseman. At the end of the day, we'll see what NJ wins with all the money they spent on him. - jd250
They won last night |

5m AAV would be my guess... I wouldn't, but CF will. The only way he is not resigned is if CF himself is canned. I dont see that happening this season. - PT21
What I hope happens is Scot doesn't allow the GM to extend anyone. Captain Comfortable being the exception as obviously a diff case.

Your Hextall schtick just makes you look silly. You're the guy who just posted that Ristolainen was headed towards dominance. You saw what a dominant defenseman looks like last night in Hamilton.
- MJL
You post we have "never ending depth" who is a part of that endless depth. |

Thanks to xfinity, MSG, and the NHL I was unable to watch the game last night.
Before the game I was thinking it was a good opportunity to get the ship righted a bit.
Opportunity squandered. |

But he's headed towards dominance. You labeled him one of the best defenseman in the NHL. - MJL

Cant give the GM flack for Jones. At the time is was a bad move it seemed. He has [played well.
His signings have been below average. His trades overall below average. His drafts too early though they look to be good with some possible fruit to bear.

I'm more concerned with seeing what the Flyers win during my lifetime. I've already seen the Devils win 3 Cups, that is quite enough. The Flyers are basically on the ass end of a 50 year drought, and couldn't be further away from a Cup if they were based on Mars. |

He loops in his superiors and makes them feel listened to, tho. So important to building a winning hockey team. And Bob Clarke likes his dad, so yeah... bonus.

Is he depth?
Where is our depth?
our depth looked good last night.

Doesn't inject himself and try to control every aspect of hockey operations even when it needs a complete overhaul. Gives the alumni carte blanche. Lets the players eat whatever they want. |

There have been enough injuries this year to have an inbuilt mgmt excuse, given the way sports businesses work. Indeed, even if fans stay away, the covid excuse is there.
However, likely scapegoats are AV and gang if they cannot right the ship. Risto stays. Roo stays. CF stays. |
