the problem is, ronnie had 5 years of drafting and developing, and probably top management saw ronnie picked no difference makers in that time and realized HExtall just wasted that time without getting much out of it. Maybe homer knew before anyone that Sandheim was just ok, and provy not a legit #1 that ronnie thought they would be so time to cut the cord. And with his culture of backstabbing and spying, that crap shouldnt be tolerated in any sort of business. - bradster
The whole culture thing he had going was another story, and not a good one |

I grew up watching Lindros. This team hasn't been competitive for around a decade now. This team is so hard to watch - 2Real
And they crying about the Tombstone injury in the studio 😆 he probably would have lost all puck battles vs this young fast Devils 😈 |

It’s over, the organization has become a pathetic mess. - ClaudeFather
What's a better situation for a team? A team that is not good enough and is capped out with older aging veteran players signed to deals with term? Or a team that is not good enough, in a better cap situation with decent prospects still looking for elite players?
I'm looking forward to when they tighten the noose by re-signing Ristolainen for 5 years and 30M.

He could've traded Simmons earlier. I'll give you that. He wasn't perfect. - MJL
For sure, but easy for us to say, he fell a step short of the rebuild that was needed. If he added picks from jake or simmer, this would be a different team.
Again incomplete, I think worse case if no players gets better, no surprises from his lower picks hit, he ends up at average to slightly below. One impact player hits, like Hart, then he is a B-, more than that then we can talk B and up. Just my take |

I made my post about him weeks back, he was extremely mediocre. Hart is great obviously, Provy was a loaded top 10, TK and Sanheim are nice picks but it’s a ton of nothing, the center depth essentially went extinct which is horrible and killing this team. He didn’t do a good job, he was average, at best. - ClaudeFather
Speculating it's why he wanted to draft Patrick despite the rumors some scouts wanted to draft a different player. Then Frost later in the same draft and JOB next draft. Hasn't worked out. |

I agree with you. It’s obviously the latter. I’ve actually liked his play, with Hayes coots Provy Ellis all locked up long term, it’s scary to lock up another mediocre player tho. Downright scary to be honest, that’s the core.... |

There wasn't a consensus among the scouts. Some wanted Patrick, some Makar and some Heiskanen.

That last part about how he ran his department should never be tolerated…agreed. But if your going to pull that poop you had better have success. Hextall accomplished basically next to nothing that can be seen as a job well done…some make it seem like the Flyers were the only team drafting average players while he was GM. |

Hextall has been gone for 3 years now and Dave Scott (and Holmer) told us this team was ready to win when the fired him. It looks pretty bleak right now. Hopefully something changes soon. No faith in current management. |

Well then you're simply not being objective. A good pick is a good pick. Simple as that. Hextall drafted a top pairing defenseman who is the teams best defenseman. That's the undeniable facts. - MJL
Where is the depth list?

It's sure looking like Hextall was right. It cracks me up that some complain and moan about how this organization does things and then criticizes Hextall for wanting to come in and completely change how things are done.

It's basically near the point where I stop complaining and just become apathetic. That is the worst thing for any sports franchise is when fans stop caring. - PLindbergh31
I've been at that point for a while now.
Haven't bothered with Center Ice going on three seasons and I don't feel I'm missing anything.
The Flyers have become just another mediocre team in a poorly-run league.

I don’t understand the Ristolainen controversy on this page. Our three best best defenders for the most part have been Provorov, Braun and Risto for the most part. Sanheim is coming around but when. sanheim has been bad, he’s been horrid.
This team needs to score. |

Right about what exactly? Hextall signed JVR to a big 5 year contract because I perceive he thought this Flyers team was ready to contend, right? Was he right at the time and was signing JVR a good thing in hindsight? |
|

More if that classic Flyers defensive coverage. |

In my opinion you are incorrect that he signed JVR thinking the team was ready to contend. Hextall was correct that the team needed to remain patient and focus on drafting and developing.
