In my opinion you are incorrect that he signed JVR thinking the team was ready to contend. Hextall was correct that the team needed to remain patient and focus on drafting and developing. - MJL
He is part of the depth right?

Scoring goals and playing from ahead does fix a lot of other problems - jd250
Well that’s not happening tonight. Already looks like another loss. |

Have the Flyers had more than :10 of zone time?
Devils are permanent residents in the Flyers' end. |

Simmonds was likely on the way out and we were weak on the left side at the time |

To add some goal scoring and to appease management.

I don’t even know who to blame there. Both defenders just watched and let Hamilton stand there. - SuperSchennBros
IMO it was between Sanheim or Couts to cover Hamilton in the slot there, Risto was covering the NJ forward on the weak side where I thought at first that pass was going to. |

Flyers executing that modern cutting edge breakout scheme that every other team in the league is trying to emulate.

When you say appease management, wasn't that ultimately the reason Hextall was fired, because he in fact did not appease managements desire to move the process along faster? I feel the way you word this it absolves Hextall from any responsibility of signing JVR. |

true, there is just nothing smooth or easy about their zone breakouts, which is why they produce so many neutral zone turnovers |

JVR for the most part has been a good player for the Flyers. He was their leading scorer last season. He has one more year on his deal. Like pretty much every player on the team currently, he has not played well overall this year. |

yes, well just another example of defensive coverage breakdowns .. I really have a hard time blaming the coach for this, shouldn't TK know what to do and who to cover there? I mean he is not a rookie! |

who wants to bet the Flyers make Blackwood look like Vasey tonight? That is of course if they can actually make it out of their own end! |

I don't have a hard time blaming the coaches. Just saw another slot chance for the Devils. The Flyers going back to all of last season have struggled with AV's strong side overload/man to man coverage scheme. |

yes, agreed, I'm just thinking back to when he was signed, I thought Hextall was not going to sign any big contracts for outside players until he felt the team was ready to contend. If he signed JVR without believing the team was ready to take a major step forward, this was a bad move. |

Who is our depth?

Same old thing. Flyers keep putting the puck up the wall into a puck battle. Continually giving up possession. - MJL
Flyers never had possession in their genepol |

Hello fellow Flyers Buzzards. Just turned on the game to see them losing... AGAIN. What's the in-game report from the keyboard GMs here? |

But you never blamed Hakstool though.
Funny how you change your mind as it suits your blowhard narrative.
