Shoulder to chest? Are you high? The replay shows knee to the head in the most predatory intent to injure way possible. Comparing what spezza did to Pionk or PLD is a joke, pionk’s
Play was a two minute penalty. Spezza deserves 5 games wi the out question. Dubois deserved a two minute penalty for man handling a Mathews but I enjoyed watching it and I’ll enjoy it again.

YES, Ross77 is back! I was really worried about you as you have not posted in a while. - TheUltimateJet
My guess is that Ross's absence is a silent protest that Maurice is still the coach of the Jets. I'm certainly also leaning that way as you can see by my rants about the PP and PK. Great specialty teams win a lot of games....its not always about 5 vs 5

First of all, yea I’m a little high
I’ll ignore most of your homer nonsense, but calling WPG a “tougher team”? Classic. No one did a single thing to stick up for Pionk after he was smoked by Spezza. THAT was fun to watch

Pionk gets two games. I say he should appeal as this is a complete BS decision by DOPS. Pionk went in for a body check which Sandin partially avoided causing the knee on knee. It was not the other way around. These guys are blind as a bat. There was no way going into that collision that there was the intention to go for a knee on knee.
If Pionk gets two games for that nonsense then Spezza gets at least 5 for his very intentional knee to the head of Pionk or the DOPS is completely biased. |

Orrrrrrrr….and hear me out here - it was a super dirty and intentional knee-on-knee hit that warranted a 2-3 game suspension, at a minimum

It definitely wasn't but you seem pretty convinced that it was Axl so believe what you want.
Sandin cut away to avoid the hit and they banged legs, really no intent to injure by Pionk, hope that Sandin is going to be okay.

What do you guys think of Alain Vigneault as next Jets head coach? He has history with True North and was a great coach for the Moose. He would definitely be an upgrade over Uncle Paul. |

Pionk can take care of himself and that stuff is everyday in the central division, PLD is going to fit in well. still not sure why Toronto lost their minds. Jets are a tougher team than they were last year - and they need to be tougher than last year. There were no tough teams in Canada last year with exception of the Habs.
What are they saying Pionk is guilty of? failing to jump out of the way of Sandin's leg? |

He would be a change and that would help short term, but i don't see him as an upgrade. Now if Barry keeps losing on the island...

Lots of Islanders fans have turned on Trotz, he does make some Maurice like lineup decisions, think I would've preferred Boudreau to Trotz. |

Idk, just know that I've never bought what Maurice is selling.
Apparently the Moose run the same systems as the Jets but from the Moose games I saw in years past when Vincent was coach it really didn't look the same as what the Jets are doing.

Why can't both hits be suspendable? It's weird to me that apparently only one hit is a suspension and dirty depending on the fan of the team you're talking with.
I will give both players the benefit of the doubt and that they weren't hunting to injure another player. Spezza isn't known for dirty hits or plays so it would surprising if he actually intended to do it.

Fair comment, I agree spezza isn’t known to be dirty, neither is Pionk.
If leafs and jets fans can both find common ground, it’s our opinion of Parros and the department of player safety. That’s a dumpster fire and the nhl literally employed ex nhl goons to run the department and their lack of consistency has been well documented.
I think we all forget sometimes how easy it is to slow down a play and analyze the crap out of it when these actually happen in game speed.
I wish The young man injured a speedy recovery; as hockey fans I don’t care what team we cheer for, real fans don’t want to see anyone injured. |

Dropping your knee on the head of a guy laying on the ice is clearly intent to injure, going for a hit and an unfortunate injury from the collision isn't. |

Jason Spezza will receive an in person hearing with the league today, which is required if the NHL wants to suspend a player for six games or more. So I'm thinking Spezza gets at 6-8 game suspension...and deserves it for a very dirty play which could have resulted in a serious head injury to Pionk. |

Just looking at the Maurice-Vincent relationship from a distance, I always felt that something did not feel right between the two. Vincent going from Jets assistant to Moose head coach to now being the Blue Jackets assistant all seem like moves designed to get away from Maurice. All the moves are essentially lateral moves.
Listening to Vincent on a number of interviews and how well he did with developing guys on the Moose, I have always felt that he should be the guy. It is unfortunate that True North’s loyalty to Uncle Paul, might have lost us a really great head coaching option in Vincent. |

I view tonight's game against the Canes as the first real test for the Jets against a team who I would consider as a legitimate Stanley Cup contender. The result here will give us a good indication of where this team really sits. The Hurricanes are a very quick transition team with lots of upfront talent who can put the puck in the net combined with an excellent defensive core. A true test for the Jets in every way. |

I know many are probably happy Nash is gone but I sure hope they don't call up Gus to just park him in the press box, the kid needs to be playing.
I'd rather see them claim some other guy to be the 13th forward before they sit one of Gus, Vesalainen, Harkins or Svechnikov to watch. |
