I go back and forth with Carlo. Sometimes he's brilliant and other times he makes me want to throw my remote at the TV. Despite what some jack off NY spaghetti benders may think, Marchand is a leader in the room and with tread left on the tires
and a friendly contract he maybe worth keeping for a rebuild.

This of course is in a perfect world where the Jacob's family passes out of existence and this putrid front office is fired.

Fair point. A rebuild is moot without the front office gone. They will just squander the picks at the draft.

i’m hearing some chatter on Debrusk for E. Kane with SJ retaining 1/2 salary.
Would ultimately be 0 change to the Bruins cap. However Kane has 2 years left on his deal.

Character issues aside. Kane is a much better player. Maybe the leadership core with the Bruins can straighten him out. With the team sliding the wrong direction I feel this could be a desperate move, but the risk is somewhat minimal SJ eating 1/2 his cap.

Every single team he has been on, Kane has been a disaster.

You do not want him.

I’ve been told the Sabres have inquired about Jake Debrusk

If they actually retain 1/2 the salary. I might do it. Kane is a lunatic but he is actually what the Bruins are missing and he was playing his best hockey last year. Two years left isn’t much risk at 3.5 million.

Interesting.

Let me also double down on that he is an absolute idiot but the Bruins leadership is better than any place he’s ever been.

I agree with you. His playing style is exactly what they need.

I don’t think Debrusk’s value is very high so I don’t like the idea of getting a 3rd round pick for him or a mediocre prospect. Kane is the best return right about now at 1/2 salary.

Hockey alone. Its a great move but Sharks players even wanted him gone last year so that is a huge red flag.

You would hope he would try to re-establish himself as a normal human after the last 6 months but who the (frank) knows.

also wouldnt mind them trying to steal Ferraro

A sad state of affairs if this is the case. If Kane is what we need...........then maybe we really should be talking about blowing it up more seriously.

There is no part of Kane that belongs in a B's uniform.

The Bruins are 11-7. I don’t know why that’s the end of the world. They haven’t even played 20 games yet.

Considering how negative you guys are when they are a top 5 team in the league. I can't imagine how grim it would be here if they went full rebuild.

Honestly, if you're just looking at the record, and not the overall play I would tend to agree with everything you say here.

Having said that, the negativity comes from watching what is a product over time fail to be competitive with the top teams in the league. They are a one line team. They have an identity crisis. Upper management is an absolute dumpster fire and other than a handful of bright spots, there is no confidence that this team has any post-bergy/marchy strategy for putting something decent on the ice.

The negativity comes from watching a declining product, and when parts of the decline are addressed, they are little more than band-aid over a large wound.

I embrace a true rebuild because unlike some, I believe its what they actually need.

Winnipeg players threw his clothes in teh shower, wanted him off of the team.

Came to buffalo and was arrested and had bad interactions with teammates.

Goes to San Jose and now his teams don't want him back.

He's an awful investment.

The rebuild doesn’t have to be nuclear. They are already rebuilding on the fly. The defense is young. Swayman is a work in progress. Why wouldn’t you prefer to rebuild while staying competitive?

The front office is constantly making moves to try and find additional scoring. The overall depth of the team is solid. They have new players on all lines and the opening schedule didn’t do them any favors as far as building cohesion. It takes time to find out who plays best with who.

I find it laughable all of these sites reporting the Bruins will get a player like Yamamoto from Edmonton or Sam Steel/ Max Comtois for DeBrusk. His value is absolutely NIL.
Sweeney held onto him for too long and his value just kept plummeting. He's doing the exact same thing with Studnicka. Very poor asset management.

Depends on the nature of the rebuild. It's hard to ignore this groups mismanagement when it's so glaring. If you're talking a Patriots circa 1993 new beginning or Red Sox 2001 then yes I'm going to be the happiest son of a female dog this side of the nut house. If it is a Jacobs owned and Neely run rebuild...well we're already here. It would massively more positive if Neely and the whole group were replaced with competent folks.

Competent as in:

Smart draft choices
Taking the talent not reaching for Senyshyn or Frederic
Have a back up plan in case your move (see all in for Hanafin) fails
Sign smart contracts like some of the extensions to Pasta & McAvoy. Not Belesky, Backes, Haula, Ullmark etc.
Make shrewd trades and avoid deals like 1st rounders for Kase

As for the record. They're out of the playoff at American Thanksgiving. Certainly not impossible but they're a 1st round bounce at best. More mediocrity, huge ticket prices, brutal concession prices. I want better if I'm giving them my time and my hard earned money. If you consider that negative, then fine. We do not agree. End of story.

Couldn't agree more. This kids career should be over. He's shown no respect to game, to any organization he's played for and gives nothing back to the game that's given him everything. He should be working a day shift with the rest of us. (frank)ing loser.

Sweeny should be let go if he makes that move. Kane is a virus and shouldn't be allowed to take up a roster spot from someone who deserves to be there or their shot.

Agreed Kane is a loser. Probably deserves to be suspended for life.
I just don’t think the value for Debrusk is anything. Once a 25-30 goal scorer to what 10-15 goal level? So can we stomach a B prospect
or a 3rd round pick.

Sweeney should probably be fired for signing so many dumb free agents. Ullmark, Forbort, Haula, good grief.
