Im sure millions listen to her....according to record sales.
Its probably her overweight fans that would be upset she lost weight?
Just guessing.
Either way, not sure what it has to do with her talent - Fakepartofme
Couldn’t care less about her weight. I don’t like her voice. It just grates on my nerves. Ann Wilson is a fat lady but she can sing far better than Adele in my opinion.
No that was rock and roll they said was evil.
Pop music is nothing but crappy lyrics to a catchy beat. And social media has added a layer to pop culture that never existed. People are so caught up in what some “celebrity” does and says that they can’t think for themselves.
There is actual music out there that has meaning and soul and isn’t just mass marketed crap. That is art. Pop music is not art. - TurdFergeson

Mariah Carey's voice annoys the living hell out of me.
Adele's, meh if I hear one song in passing...my ears wont bleed.
Yup. I'm guessing they feel betrayed that their hero decided to work her ass off (literally and figuratively) to get healthy. As if it was a slight to them that this person decided she wanted to change her lifestyle.
I don't think I've ever felt the need to identify with the musicians I listen to. But hey, whatcha gonna do? 🤷 - mjones242
I'd argue witnessing personal growth is always a good thing.

Im not saying I disagree.
But there is an art to all music I would think...even if its mass produced.
Im no musician, but I believe I read somewhere that most of the hits in the past 20 years (different genres) are basically the same 4 cords?

Music doesn’t have to be art to be good and commercial considerations have always been there.
Music changed as the economy changed in the late 50’s and early 60’s and teenagers had money in their hands and Elvis turned “black music” into something acceptable. There has always been something - radio, teen throb magazines, social media - adding layers and influencing tastes.
They are only 5pts back of top 3 and its only the end of November.
Still so much time and so much can happen.
Tampa or florida get covid, the leafs go on a losing skid or have injuries, boston rifles off a couple of wins and they are right back in it.
Too early to say right now.
I mean F them I hope they miss the playoffs....but its early - Fakepartofme
1. That's why it's called a hot take
2. I'm not going to concern my hot takes with what ifs
3. People like making absolute predictions about the leafs all the time. During the losing streak people were patting themselves on the back of how poop this team really is. I'm just doing it to another team.
4. Don't harsh my fun

It's the old ice cream argument. Waive your spoon at the stars and yell that vanilla is the only real flavour.
Adele is not my taste but gotta respect her popularity. Stevie Nicks is the best female voice of all time (IMHO). Alecia Keys and Amy Winehouse are in the mix too. But just my opinion.

Our ears are clearly not the same. Lol. I hate the voices of all of those you listed. Again imo.

Just a question from my end... why do we have to respect her popularity? Does her popularity make her music any more legitimate than a lesser known artist's? The idea that I have to reserve some kind of reverence for artists that are beloved by the masses even if I don't like the music is kind of silly.

Yeah, I'm totally against "fat shaming" but I feel like, as a society, we should be promoting health in terms of: exercise, better nutrition / less junk food bs, and getting precious Vitamin D into our bodily fluids (this especially during the winter!).
It's weird how anyone would feel like Adele has turned her back on overweight fans because she decided to personally work on her health. I suspect this has a lot to do with one's personal (lack of) accountability.

While I respect your opinion, as someone that enjoys a wide variety of genres and generations of music, there are many amazing female vocalists that came before that were truly exceptional. I have difficulty granting any musician greatest of all time for that reason. Having seen Nicks several times, including what most would consider her prime years, she was great. So were Aretha Franklin, Koko Taylor, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Maria Callas and scores of others.
