Leafs are tied for 1st with only Washington in the entire NHL but you asshats are talking baseball???

#baseballbuzz sucks.

GLG!

Trade Engvall and Holl, find a nice #4RD to pair with Muzz for $3M and we're golden! Keep swapping in Dermott and Lilj until one clearly beats out the other.

Trading Holl and either Engvall of Mikheyev for a good D-man is a great move and I'd be all for it.

But between Liljegren and Dermott, that's pretty much already been settled. Liljegren has out played him, and a few others, actually. But Dermott as a 7 is pretty good.

I've got a super cool Leafs leather jacket now and it doesn't have a hood. I just wear my hoodie underneath it.

i have a bomber jacket with a hood and the hood is big enough that I can wear a hoodie underneath.

Add a tuque and I'm prepared for anything except unseasonably warm weather

- TheMussel

Nice. That sounds like a good jacket.

I used to mostly just wear double hoodies in the winter but now that I got this Leafs jacket, I'll be wearing it. Be warmer, too.

Ramirez would be fantastic. You'd also have to give up the moon to get him (like Moreno+ and/or Pearson+ . . . ), and after his $13m team option next season, he's out of here for a huge payday. Is 2 years worth the acquisition price? Is *he* the guy who puts you over the top to win a World Series and makes it worthwhile to mortgage your future assets? Otherwise, sign an FA who maybe isn't quite as stellar, but lets you develop your future pieces and keep your assets to move them in other ways to keep you at the top longer.

It'll absolutely cost an insane amount, but I think the Jays have made it clear that winning it all right now is the path they're taking.

Personally, I think it'd be worth it. Plus, I think there's a decent chance he could re-sign.

I've no (frank)ing clue how to get pictures from my phone onto the computer, so the best I can do is go to the google and find a picture of it like that. I'm not computer or tech savvy.

as we’ve seen in previous years with this “team”, woll will get run along with bustin glassthews, soup sandwich and snakevares
none of their “teammates” will retaliate so they will all shrink like a bunch of dead Richards in winter under a sheet of snow come playoff time 🤦‍♂️

Bichette and Vladdy Jr. have 3 years left before they're UFA. So the window might be that amount of years.

I would agree, but.............. Jays have a pretty decent starting rotation now Berrios, Ryu, Gausman, Manoah and Person (as the fifth) They got a good deal IMO on Gausman and his idol was Roy Halladay. Pick up Jose Ramirez, keep Espinal and Biggio for infield, shore up the bullpen and kick ass.

Yup. Sounds like Ray told the Jays he's looking at north of 25M so they went with Gausman.

Which mystery player from which mystery team overvalues Holl and Engvall enough to give us a top-4 defenseman making less than $3m?

This sounds exciting. I can't imagine who it would be!

Arizona doesn't have anyone. Neither does Ottawa or Buffalo.

Montreal has Chiarot. The problem is that they've seen a lot of Holl and and Engvall and Bergevin is gone and Gorton is smart.

The Islanders would be foolish to make a panic move now and Lou knows that. The Hawks are 6-3 since firing their coach after starting the year 1-11. They'd be unlikely to make moves now.

Even if Vancouver had someone who fit the bill that we liked, they still have Benning who is still playing in the pile of poop he's built and somehow happy with it.

Seattle is a team of top-4 D-Men, but they're all under contract for too long for them to be enticed by our garbage.

Or. And this is something the Leafs' management have known . . .we're stuck with Holl and would be hard-pressed to replace his top-4 presence when he's playing as well as he can (and I'm not getting into the argument that he's not a real top-4 - just about every team's 4th defenseman has distinct holes in their game).

Holl and Engvall aren't old enough to interest Lou, and neither of their games have any muck to them. Why would they trade Mayfield who's making $1.45m for 2 more years for the opportunity to pay Holl and Engvall $3.25m when Engvall's deal is up at the end of this year, and Holl's is next year? Especially if Mayfield is better?

We've already got 6 guys on the team playing better than the best Holl can play, though.

I agree that no team will take him, though. That's for sure gonna be the hardest part about trying to acquire someone in a trade.

That and Holl gets to pick 10 teams they can’t trade him too, and if he wants to keep his beard the islanders will be one of them lol

That is a great move....whether the Islanders do it or not?

But a move "like" that is exactly the small-ish type of move to give the Leafs an even stronger D for the playoffs and might free up the offense a tiny bit....only a tiny bit cuz I like the Leafs forwards finally taking care of their own end.

Jays have pieces that they could move to get Ramirez, and at $12M for the year, they will go hard after him. Cleveland will be rebuilding - Jays can offer a catcher not named Moreno, a couple of prospects and Grichuk.

Whatever happened in previous years has nothing to do with anything. If it did the same team would win every year. It’s always a new cast of characters out there.

Oddly don't see much of that this year....maybe other teams are worried about our tough guys....Simmonds, Ritchie and the occasional appearance from Clifford.

I also think the "hits" stats are up for some other not so hitter types like Matthews, Willie and...have to say it....Marner.

Getting tougher as they get older I guess.

Yeah I’m a tad surprised he got it but whatever. I know he’s hated but he’s third on the team for hits and first for blocked shots.

Hate to say it but the problem with that pairing this year has been primarily Muzzin.

Either way there won’t be any changes moving forward… they’re tied for first ffs lol

Liljegren will be sent down while they try and show off Mikheyev but I’m willing to be for no more than half a dozen games

Holl got off to a bad start. I think he's been better of late. Dermott hasn't played better than Holl in the last 10-15 games, but he was better in the beginning. I mean a testament to Dermott . . . he played his best hockey when no one else was playing well at all. As soon as people around him started playing better, he started playing worse. OR . . . and this is a theory - Dermott always sucked and he's the static bottom - like the Mendoza line of hockey. "This is the suck line. Any worse than here, and you suck."

The other reason to keep a guy like Holl around is that he's been through it. He's been beaten around and come out on the other side. We have 2 rookies who have played well so far and I sincerely hope it keeps up. They haven't been thoroughly smacked around and beaten up yet - emotionally and mentally, leaving the physical part out for now. The Toronto media is harsh. The Toronto fans are jerks. Things are great right now and it's all rainbows and care bears. It's like the good part of a Skittles commercial in Toronto right now. But if we lose 4 in a row, it'll turn dark and grey and there were be screaming and it will be like wearing the ring while the Nazgul hunt you down in Lord of the Rings. Scapegoats will be found. Holl has been the scapegoat and can deal with it. Can Liljegren? Can Sandin? Can Dermott?

I'd keep Holl for now because you're not getting someone who can fill in doing what he does as well as he does and still be a lightning rod for criticism.

Pretty safe to say Lou isn’t going to trade his bargain priced d man for a couple of his former minor league guys when he was GM of Toronto lol
