I mean you don't have to question why that is right? The 2 are never going to have equal expectations... ever. And any defense of 26 that begins with a discussion of haag probably tells you how bad 26 is.
- lacaprup

well played...

i'll add, buffalo has given up 22 5v5 goals over the past seven games, dahlin has been on the ice for seven of them (31%) while playing the most ev minutes...haag has been on the ice for 14 of those (64%) while playing the second least number of ev-minutes

dahlin, an offensive defenseman and rightfully gets a lot of attention for his defensive blunders...haag is a defensive defenseman who's been awful in that role

If you believe every other team in the league wouldn't pay to acquire his potential, you're fooling yourself IMO.
- QuinnFan

If you think there's A line of teams waiting to pay this guy 6 million dollars a year and give up a top 6 forward for him you're nuts.

If he were playing like this on a team near the salary cap he would be getting crucified

So, we're supposed to ignore the fact he caused 2 shorthanded goals last night?

Edit: caused one was on ice for two.

Agree on the partner, but that only helps him 5v5. Who's going to steady him when he sh!ts all over himself while on the PP?

it seems to me, and i admittedly haven't seen all the games, that dahlin has been better at positioning himself against getting burned by speed in the d-zone as of late...

thoughts?

- Michael Pachla

No

Yesterday was terrible. He needs to take a seat. The opponents speed is what's making him look slow footed.

The slow footed makes him look like he's not trying.

no...it's been acknowledged as turrible...

what's happened is that those two shorties somehow turn him into a player that needs to be traded now, or for some reinforce the idea that he should have been traded a couple years ago as a 19 yr. old former 1st-overall who's destined to be thrown on the bust-heap of suck

I think you are misconflating something. It's the topic of Hank's blog today. We're focusing on Darlene because it's the topic of the day. And I'm not going to change that voice voice to text error because he plays like a girl named Darlene

He's not a good back peddler. Never has been. He's Erik Karlsson lite.

Me and my friend have had the thought of throwing him up front. Hes got all the intangibles for a ultra-talented forward

haag has been terrible the last seven games yet not one word on him while playing the second-least ev-minutes
- Michael Pachla

Any word on how difficult it is to be a #1 defenseman in the nhl.

Even the best defenseman have difficulty containing the top offensive players in the league.

Risto deserved some backlash, but you called it..

His first game all year he was the major problem. See if he bounces back next game or if it becomes a problem.

He's 21 btw. Where were you at 21? jerkin' off probably

Jake Debrusk is gaining a lot of interest.

You're wrong.

but please continue.

IF Dahlin were to be traded right now, you are getting a great haul for him.

Honest Question here. what would a good partner do to prevent him getting walked/Rope-a-doped? I can think of Multiple times this year he has been absolutely embarrassed. The only thing a good partner will do is hide his awful mistakes. IMO Dahlin is bad at Defense and really has been his whole career with the Sabres so far. Maybe he will get better but I highly doubt he turns out to be the generational D-man everyone thought he would be.

maybe Powers will be better, who knows these are kids we are talking about.

A couple issues here:

1. If you think this was the 1st game all year he was the major problem you clearly haven't watched the games.

2. You spend too much time thinking about 21 year old men jerking off.

darlene is pretty cute...

since when do we ever spend our time debating the blog past the first two or three pages (sometimes two or three posts)...facts are facts...

hank's piece was great and i even can agree with sitting him a game or two, but i'm not yet ready to entertain a trade now, much less a couple years ago

the reason why i brought up getting burned wide by speed in his own zone is i think he's starting to learn how to counter his deficiencies on defense

Erik Karlsson sucked at defense. SUCKED

Yet he carried his sh!t ottawa team to a game 7 against the cup champs.

Guess who Karlsson's partner was.

When Karlsson won the norris he had a solid defensive d-man.

Dahlin is our Karlsson.

Get Dahlin that solid partner and it lets him not have to worry so much.

When he played with Pysyk he looked very loose and Pysyk did the heavy lifting. But Pysyk can only do so much.
