I guess I'll do a couple drive bys. I watch a fair amount of Flyers games. When I watch this team play, it reminds me so much of the Ranger teams of our own dark ages: a miss mash of talent with a bunch of parts that are talented on paper, but have zero fit together.

I have no reason why the org hired Fletcher. He had a ten year record of making a bubble team that could be plucky in the early rounds of the playoffs, but poor cap management that made sure the Wild were never contenders. The Flyers have gotten exactly what they have paid for. I know they wanted a more agressive GM, but there are more and better options out there that can do the same thing.

As a fan of a rival team, I should be happy that your team looks hopeless, but hockey is better when you guys are good and can be the villans.

How does "we" not wanting CF to do the rebuild actually prevent the "rebuild" from starting at the deadline? How does that mean that the rebuild can't start until CF and his staff are removed? From 5 NHL drafts, Hextall drafted what 10 NHL players? The team decided to move on from some of them. There is still the possibility of 3 more NHL players. Along with the starting goalie, top pair defenseman, 2nd pair defenseman and two top 6 level wingers. The issue that the team interrupted what Hextall was doing. What has happened since then is the issue. Not what Hextall did.

I am not backing away from anything! I like Fletcher as the GM and I liked the moves he made in the off season. So far those moves have not worked out, that is the way it goes, but I don't blame him for what he did. I was hoping this team would take the good step forward, so far they have not, however I still believe that if Ellis and Hayes were playing this season, we would be having a very different conversation.

In the end, we are were we are, and we have to evaluate and decide what to do. I think CF will remain patient, but if it goes south as it did last year, he will blow it up at he deadline and rebuild. There is nothing wrong with trying something, seeing the results and the determining what to do next. It does not make you a dumb or bad person if things don't work out, as long as you can see it and adapt, and that is what I hope CF does.

So there is nothing wrong with adding aging older players with term and relatively high cap hits as well as trading picks for a player on the final year of his deal and having it not work out. Hey we tried. Got it.
