Neither has won anything so who cares what method they use? Again as long as you look like you are trying that makes up for the TEAM not winning?

Personally, both players should sue the orgs that employed them for malpractice.

The difference is no one ever expected anything from the Yotes year in & year out where the Flyers actually had expectations & good teams

Again, I'll ask what did they do in 2019. They squeaked past Montreal and then got knocked out by the Islanders.

They're a good up and coming team but I don't think they have reached contender status yet. That's premature on your part.

I am on the record as saying the only mistake Hextall made was not going scorched earth when he was initially hired. The same mistakes we see today were prevalent over multiple coaches when Hextall was first brought on board. I know that is hard to do considering the type of season Voracek had.

I asked Bill the question earlier this season if Hextall had the option, and he responded that Hextall truly believed he could make it work with the players already here and rebuild on the fly. I do think it would've worked eventually, but it takes a long time. Feckless management lost patience.

- StepfordSam

Maybe, but does that fit Hextall's (GM) personality ? He wasn't exactly good at making big time deals, or significant changes. One of the reasons he is reporting to Burke right now. I think Hextall's biggest mistake was not mixing in some veterans with the young d men he drafted. These break downs in coverage date back to the previous group of 6. This is what Holmgren hired CF to do.

I hate their goal song too! It sounds so rinky-dink, just like the team currently. My daughter thinks they should change to an AC/DC song, and then they will get some balls!

So you're calling for a rebuild but are still in favor of and like the moves that Fletcher made and where the team is with those moves after 20 games. Got it.

So there is nothing wrong with adding aging older players with term and relatively high cap hits as well as trading picks for a player on the final year of his deal and having it not work out. Hey we tried. Got it.

I'll just leave at that rather than try and explain what is so unbelievably and fundamentally wrong with what you've posted.

- MJL

No I will not, thank you very much! EVERYONE would have made the deal for Ellis, and I mean EVERYONE! He is a legitimate top-pairing defenseman, unlike your boy Provey who apparently needs an all-star to play with in order to play well! The aging veterans were signed because there were NO YOUNG PLAYERS WHO COULD MAKE THE TEAM, even in a bottom 6 or bottom pairing role!! And who might we blame for this?? Hmmm ... could it be .... HEXTALL??

You have a reading comprehension issue. I have not at any time criticized Fletcher's drafting. I've criticized his NHL moves.
- MJL

Atkinson. You like. Risto you don’t like but most people disagree w you cuz you’re just a hater risto has been good & is everything this team needs. Ellis far better than healthy scratch myers. Hart extension great value. What’s the issue??

Yes, this was directed towards posters like yourself that want Fletcher fired! If you want Fletcher fired, it takes time to put a new GM and VP of Ops in place and that will curtail the start of the rebuild. HMMM ... seems pretty straight-forward to me, but then again, I'm much, much smarter than you!

Come on, the intro to "Dirty Deeds" wouldn't energize the crowd and the players a lot more than the current wretched song?

And what does this say about Provey? Don't great players make players around them better?

The only thing you have to be careful about is whether the young player is physically able to play with bigger and stronger NHL players. The last thing you want to do is have what happened to Frost to happen to others.

- jd250

Point well taken. Although I've read other bloggers on this site name other smaller players in the NHL who are not having this same experience (Point, Barzal etc.) I guess I'm hoping that one of our prospects can at least be durable enough to play and contribute some points, not necessarily as much as the aforementioned players, but just to provide a couple more threats on offense. Require our opponents to cover more people.

Frost status all hinges on how many minutes he gets. If they start to slip he will be better served in the AHL
