"Not shooting enough....."

I sure as hell agree with that.

Playing tough teams is no excuse for being uncompetitive and disorganized and unprepared. Nobody expected them to win all these games. But they should be expected to at least look like an NHL team.

None of his comments surprise me. They are not going to make changes at this point when the GM feels they haven't had a full squad in order to assess what the team really is. For good or for bad.

Unfortunately this is an excuse like covid was last year. Oh, and the hard schedule
whats the excuse for lack of effort.

Maybe, but does that fit Hextall's (GM) personality ? He wasn't exactly good at making big time deals, or significant changes. One of the reasons he is reporting to Burke right now. I think Hextall's biggest mistake was not mixing in some veterans with the young d men he drafted. These break downs in coverage date back to the previous group of 6. This is what Holmgren hired CF to do.
- BluehorseShoe64

Hextall was not attempting to make big time deals.

During Hextall's tenure, vet defenseman were Mark Streit, Radko Gudas, Nick Schultz, Michael Del Zotto and Andrew MacDonald.

No I will not, thank you very much! EVERYONE would have made the deal for Ellis, and I mean EVERYONE! He is a legitimate top-pairing defenseman, unlike your boy Provey who apparently needs an all-star to play with in order to play well! The aging veterans were signed because there were NO YOUNG PLAYERS WHO COULD MAKE THE TEAM, even in a bottom 6 or bottom pairing role!! And who might we blame for this?? Hmmm ... could it be .... HEXTALL??
- jd250

You're speculating. Here you go again with my boy Provy and the Hextall schtick. Just embarrassing yourself. There absolutely were young players who could make the team. He traded two of them. It's just nothing but rhetoric from you and becoming more and more unhinged as you are confronted with the facts.

It may be an excuse, but it's exactly what I expected him to say today. I have no idea why they aren't putting forth enough effort/properly executing.

Yes, this was directed towards posters like yourself that want Fletcher fired! If you want Fletcher fired, it takes time to put a new GM and VP of Ops in place and that will curtail the start of the rebuild. HMMM ... seems pretty straight-forward to me, but then again, I'm much, much smarter than you!
- jd250

A new GM can be named in a few days. Same as a new coach. The rebuild could start pretty quickly. The fans have nothing to do with it and have no say in the matter.

The difference is no one ever expected anything from the Yotes year in & year out where the Flyers actually had expectations & good teams
- Fopa21

Semantics. Neither won anything so both must be terrible leaders.

It is pretty clear you do not like Giroux. We all get it. Just admit that clouds your judgement.

For the record, I really like Shane Doan. Both he and Giroux deserved better from the orgs they played for.

I don’t disagree but man i think the Flyers should take their damn time finding the next GM and/or coach (if they’re fired). Need to get it right. The change every 3-5 years is growing old

The best was his comment about the PP not being good since 2014-15…it lacks that true shooter? WTF…then maybe try and get one?

They could put OV on that PP and it wouldn't matter because they wouldn't be able to get him the damned puck to shoot it. Rim around, point to point, rim around, point to point, rim around, point to point, to infinity.

You knew today was about the excuses… but to complain about a tough schedule after you made trades in the summer designed to compete now doesn’t hold any water. All today was designed to do was to buy time…he’s “hoping” things get turned around. He doesn’t have any answers except injured guys coming back into the lineup. No wonder he put off all interviews in the last couple of weeks…when that’s all he had.

If this season continues to be a dumpster fire, I can see the whole coaching staff getting axed. I don't expect CF will lose his job this quickly.
