Agreed! I don't see AV getting canned any time soon, Fletcher basically today put it on the players and I think he is right.
- jd250

It is on the players, no question. Again, blaming the coach is dumb in this situation.

Fletcher was excellent. Gave an update on all injured players, talked about how bad the PP has been since the 2014-2015 season and why (he believes its due to 1. bad zone entries and 2. lack of players with true scoring ability from the flanks; so its a personnel issue) and talked about how bad the team has looked these past 10 games versus how well they played the first 10 games. It was very insightful, you should be able to catch a replay on youtube.
- jd250

This shows how out of touch cf is. 2 times since 14-15 have the Flyers been in the bottom half of the league in the PP. If you take out the high and low - the PP percentage is relatively consistent

14-15 3rd 23.44
15-16 11th 18.93
16-17 14th 19.49
17-18 15th 20.69
18-19 23rd 17.09
19-20 14th 20.80
20-21 18th 19.16

You have blind faith in a blind man who knows little to nothing about how to build a winning hockey team

I know that is what we are watching the players do, but are you certain the players are being told to do this?

So thank you for showing everyone, not just me, that all you know how to do is criticize, but you have NO plan or clue what-so-ever as to what to do. EXCEPT, they should have never fired Hextall!! Wow, amazing insights!
- jd250

Your simply not making an intelligent argument by placing a standard on me that you yourself couldn't make. Nor are you even arguing the merits of the conversation. You're just trying to deflect with childish nonsense. Anyone can just randomly put together any kind of trade scenario but that's just fantasy hockey. To imply that one cannot criticize a GM unless they have a better solution is just not smart. If you did apply that to yourself, that would mean that you can't criticize a player because you couldn't do better.

The most important ability is a availability.

Nothing in Ellis' past should have you believe he would be healthy.

It was a BAD signing.

So what exactly was the point of this presser?? I mean, did I miss something? He held a presser to tell us what every Tom, Richard and Harry already know. And I would disagree with his assessment that they played well the first 10 games. The goalies saved their arses the first 10 games. They have played TWO complete games to date. That was the home game against the Kraken and the road game against the Caps. That's it!! Flush the rest of the games down the toily! Really a shame that this team has no one on the Phantoms ready to come up cause this would be a perfect time to bench a few of the underperforming vets (JVR comes to mind)!! What's he gonna say after tomorrow night's debacle. Ed Snider would have already turned over every chair in the locker room!! Thanks!

They dont compete and put in enough effort. when was the last time they had a hard working team. even in the richards carter days, they took way too many games off. Goes back ages. Maybe other teams do, but they have the talent to overcome, but when i watch vegas or colorado even the pens, they are hard working teams, boston too. Philly not so much

putting words into his mouth? it is a routine play to catch a pass off the boards.

He probably has premature osteoporosis too.. I had higher hopes...but bad trade, not a signing... of course a SMARTER GM, would bury his cap hit for the regular season, put him IR and acquire someone else who was healthy for a year.

- hello it's me 2050

For now yes, but especially when players come back, if this continues to trend in the wrong direction and Fletcher sees that the players no longer believe, AV will be canned. Fletcher said today the team was upbeat, had a good practice and believes everyone still believes in the system and in what they are doing. That means replacing AV is not an option at this time.

I would love to see the GM and the coaching staff injected with sodium pentathol, tied down in chairs and forced to speak the truth.. (of course there are probably better chemicals these days) while they are at it, do it to the whole team and lets hear it all...that would be worth the price of an admission ticket..

The numbers you posted here tell me Fletcher is SPOT ON! The team's PP has stunk since 2014-2015. You see, the way it works is, when the PP is over about 22%, then its a good PP. When its closer to 19%, its not a good PP.

That was my point exactly. In my league, we don't even have a real coach, and I often play defense for a spell. I look where my options are, sometimes you have teammates open up the boards, sometimes open in the center, sometimes you have no teammate open so you either skate or if no ice is available, make a safe play and bang the puck out. I don't need a coach to tell me this, I just know how to play hockey. I don't even think about it in fact when I play.

how many more games do you need from this coaching staff to see it is trending in the wrong direction.

All GM speak as he has to show support. If he really believs it he is straight up dope.

Of course they are upbeat lead by Captain Comfortable.

I saw a perfect example of this last night. The Pens/Flames game was on NHL Network. I noticed how hard the Pens work on what seems like every single shift. They have been getting stellar goaltending and got it again last night, but the compete level stands out compared to a certain other team. I mean, the Flyers are talking about injuries? Look at what the Pens have dealt with and yet the Flyers are still looking up in the standings at them. I think this is why Giroux takes a lot of shyte. It seems since he has been captain this team simply doesn't have the compete level that it needs to be successful.
