As I mentioned on the other thread, I think the important metric is HDCF (High Danger Chances For) over possession, since having possession does not necessarily mean you will generate High Danger scoring chances, as the Flyers routinely demonstrate. Right now the Flyers are 3rd from the bottom of the league in Scoring Chances For, and 39% of those chances are High Danger Chances. The Rangers are 5th from the bottom in Scoring Chances For, and 43% of their chances are High Danger Chances. So both teams struggle to generate scoring chances. The difference between the two teams is this, the Rangers are 18th in the league in HDCF% at 49%, meaning they give up slightly more HD chances than the generate but they are close to even. On the contrary, the Flyers are dead last in the league in HDCF% at 40%, meaning they give up many more HD chances than they generate.

Look through the team metrics for the league and see what the norm is. See how many teams that are high in CF% are also high in HDCF%.
All of the numbers that you are looking at point to why the Rangers aren't at true contender status yet.

Well according to CF the coaching staff was working all yesterday to figure this thing out, so Seeler at 2D must be the ticket.

The correct thing to do as I posted back during the first part of the season was to move Lindblom up in the lineup. He was generating scoring chances and was strong on the forecheck. Putting him with Couturier or Giroux could've gotten him out of his finishing funk. They were slow on the draw. The signs were there all along. He had one line that was finishing but not generating enough chances. Another line was generating chances but not finishing. A mixed combination of the two, could've worked. They're teetering on the edge of losing the team for the season now.

Exactly. While JVR and Oskar were positive in process but struggling on the scoresheet, the coaching staff should have done everything to break them out. Now they're both struggling in process too, and it's gonna take a minor miracle for either of them to get their seasons back on track.

Looking at Saint Ronnies draft picks from Round 3 - 7. How many regular NHL players did he produce?

So you think its a good idea to keep JVR on the PP? Have you looked at his stats not only this year but the latter half of last year? The guy is completely dead weight, he's cooked! Oscar has 1 assist in 19 games this season and only 14 points in 50 games last season. Should AV put Oscar on the PP too just because??
- jd250

How come the stats for JVR in the latter half of last year didn't come into play when you repeatedly stated that the Flyers would have no problem trading JVR this next off season?

Yes, I'm quite proud of myself as well for not backreading!

BTW, do you know the model name given to the current Hyundai Accent that's built and sold in Russia? Hint: It's not "Accent" and it's a Latin word for something bright.

I did not until I just Googled it.

Edit: I'm a little slow on the uptake but just figured it out. Thanks. lol

They will spot Risto and Sanheim next to Provy I wound assume.

Just so “#1 Dman” Provy does not exert himself reaching for any pucks we should be ok..

Rangers record is definitely a bit of a mirage. Like the Flyers, they've been giving up a metric (frank)ton of chances and their goalies have had to bail them out continuously. They won't have such a sterling record for long.

The teams are not that far apart in scoring % in scoring % from high, medium or low danger areas respectively. Yet, they are far apart in shooting %: (Rags are 6th from top, we are 6th from bottom). Why?

As you might guess, they fare far better in the "High Danger Corsi": they are 20th, almost at 50%. We get slaughtered, and are at 40%, worst in the league.

Again, I was only comparing the Rangers to the Flyers defensively.

The Flyers could sure use his "shoot from anywhere" mentality.

It is not him and that player was not. He had a small sample size of solid play. Like many others before and after him. Bourdon. He was not good really.

And as far as SH%, you really think Chris Kreider is gonna keep shooting 25% and reach 60-goals?

When his shooting dries up (like clockwork), you gotta wonder who's gonna pick up that slack.
