So G is too fault for Lindblom JVR Coots Farabees poor play for the vast majority of this season? If this guy wasn’t on this team they’d be a basement dweller. Probably better off if they didn’t haha - ClaudeFather
Poor play stats wise obviously not on G. Poor play effort wise yes that is on the leader. Not practicing today the leader can go to coaching & say we need to I want to we are going to. Farabee or Frost can’t do that |

Giroux is the captain he’s responsible for making the team better on ice - 2Real
The captain thing is such a fictional character you people have created. Not that there aren’t good leaders that wear the C but it’s about a Franking team. Is Stamkos a good captain? His team won a Stanley cup without the guy, didn’t need him. Is Toews a great captain? Or was he just a very good player on one of the best teams of the decade. If you flipped G with either of these guys the Flyers do not do better than what they’ve done the past decade |

You don’t think Giroux has set the tone for the team, the only guy that produces year in and year out? It’s about a team moron. You act like we had some star studded squad that under achieved . |

Mike Richards was the catalyst for that cup team and then won with LA playing a major role... |

Wins: GP 8 Goals 3 Assists 6 Points 9 +/- +4
Losses: GP 13 Goals 4 Assists 5 Points 9 +/- -10
Point totals are the same. When the leader decides to play both ends of the ice the team usually wins. |

Look at every team, who is the captain? It’s almost always the best player or was anointed when they were. You honestly think they are all great leaders haha, wake up buddy. Stop watching Movies. |

jake is coring how he normally does. and has a very high offensive zone start rate.
ghost is having one of his better years to start the season....also looking at the numbers i don't think shayne will be able to sustain his level....lets see how long this lasts for both players. - Peter Richards
You know who also has a very high offensive zone start rate? Cam Atkinson. And he's not exactly producing like Jake, is he? |

This has been a shift I feel the last twenty years. Wasn’t around in the 69 s and 70 s. But I view the captain position as a certain type of character. And I require them to bring certain elements.
Now. Not saying anything about g currently. When he was named captain I didn’t understand exactly. Let your best player offensively worry about that. I always preferred a player like landeskog. Current example. Or sometimes it just works out like getzlaf that your best player has those attributes.
But that’s just me. |

Even more indicators of his crap play/overratedness
Home:
10 6 5 11 -1
Away:
11 1 6 7 -5
The league knows to get him out on the ice for favorable match ups. At home he’s sheltered a bit more with last change. |
