Is what happens when you get away from giroux
Notice how Carter Richards and schenn all won the cup when they got away from him

- 2Real

Wait...what? All of those guys were secondary parts to SC winning teams...and G talked frequently to Richards about being the captain of the Flyers...if anything..those guys tainted the pool for G...

Ownership doesn’t care. The Flyers are a drop in the bucket for the multi billion behemoth that is Comcast. The exec in charge, Dave Scott, knows about as much about building a successful hockey franchise as Carrottop

The GM is the poster child for both nepotism and mediocrity and the coach is a pedantic buffoon.

At this point, the best thing that could happen would be for Comcast to sell the team.

LOL. Great snark. I could not agree more about Scott. He should be gone.

So is a point per game on par with his normal numbers?

Consistent yes. But has only been a point per game player once in his career. Until the last few games he started the season as a point per game. Has over a 70 percent ozone start rate…., yeah that wouldn’t assist at all would it.

Never said he wasn’t consistent or he wasn’t a good offensive player. Just let’s see if that production remains throughout the season. You brought up the whole cam comparison not me.

- Peter Richards

He's been between .80 to .85 points per game for the past several years, like clockwork.

This year he's at .86

If you're actually surprised that he's got 18 pts in 21 games, then I don't know what to say to you.

This is just ridiculous. The perfect example of township who takes fans’ money and give nothing back are the Ford family in Detroit. The lions have never been good and I’ll never be good. The Flyers bringing high profile coaches with a resume of success or GM’s who are aggressive in bringing on board talent or rebuilding is a sign of caring. There is a different between caring and just doing it wrong.

Fletcher is a joke. His Minnesota teams never won squat and were never Cup contenders. AV is just as big a joke. His “success” came on the backs of 2 HoF goaltenders.

Simple people all last season & summer said the core leadership wasn’t good enough needed to be changed. The GM came out & said they needed to bring in more leaders to help out yet kept the leader. It’s laughable to call out leadership & yet keep the leader.

That’s like the Blackhawks keeping Stan Bowman after the Beach scandal saying he was the leader of the organization but we’ll get rid of everyone under him & bring in some new blood to change culture but keep the guy responsible for the culture. Lol 🤦‍♂️

What has he produced other than disappointing teams?
Last time this team was good was with Richards at captain

How would G produce a good team? He's a player not the GM?

Was at a High School hockey game last week. Undefeated team was blowing out the other team. The losing team started gooning it up with after the whistle stuff and a player on winning team got in fight and got tossed which added a 1 game suspension. The Captain of the winning team, on his own, called timeout and gathered his whole team on the ice telling them to skate away from anymore nonsense as the game is decided and did not need anyone else getting a suspension. Team responded and just finished the game not getting goaded into any more nonsense. Thought that was great leadership by a 17yr old. Thats a Captain. I would have gained so much respect if G called a practice yesterday rather then team spending the day on the golf course. They just dont care and neither does the Captain. Going through the motions and its obvious

Are there any real world examples of a Captain calling a team practice when the team has been playing bad? I see what you are saying and maybe want from the team, but I've never seen any other Flyer captain do this.

And I'm sure they have had 1 or 2 other those during this streak, or I would hope so at least.

But for that poster to say he wants G to call a team practice etc. is not an option.

As the captain I know he's the focal point and all, but these are grown men playing a professional sport. They shouldn't need anyone to get them up for a game, and expecting 1 guy (G) to make them get ready is nuts.

Many times a captain has run an "optional" team practice. What players show up would tell you a lot about the group.

Unless Frost pans out, this team will not have drafted a top 6 center since taking Couturier in 2011. Worse, after 54 years of existence, they have never been able to draft a legit, all situations #1 Dman.

Why should anyone have the slightest bit of confidence that this organization can build a Cup contending team? Dave Scott isn’t a hockey guy and his GM never built a team that went anywhere in Minnesota. And let’s not forget the genius head coach whose joke of a system seems utterly dependent on world class goaltending and unsustainable shooting percentages.

The entire Flyers organization needs an enema or, better yet, a visit from Dr Kevorkian.

- BiggE

Agreed!

Let’s not forget that AV was let go in NY due to his inability to work with the youngsters and develop them. Definitely disappointed how loyal he’s been to his assistant coaches while they’ve failed miserably, too.

One more thing, we could have had Jeff Gorton as GM. Look at the talent he’s drafted in NY before they caved and let him go. Yes, the RumpRangers were gifted a first overall, but he did a great job of drafting talent.

The state of affairs in this organization makes me apathetic.

As BiggE put it, this team needs an enema! Better yet, the whole league does. They signed a big deal w ESPN, and now it’s hard to even find televised games worth watching. Sad sad sad.....

Why?? Why?? Why would a team on a 7 game losing streak who played a putrid game the night before get an off day..I just dont get it. If the coach was a guy like Keenan or Torts they would have been skating yesterday with their equipment bags on their back. At the very least have a low intensity practice where you work on your dismal PP or god forbid get some shoot out reps. The wjhole organization has gone soft. Geez the average guy skated around 16 minutes on Wed you mean they cant practice for an hour the next day. Last year they whined about not enough practice time this year just giving days off when could be working on something. Losers and they have accepted being losers..Ok now I feel better!!!,
- hfc355

Sigh. Its called a COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT, or CBA for short. You should look it up sometime. Then maybe you will "get it".

I’m not drinking anything. I just know what a franchise that doesn’t care looks like. Case and point, the example I just gave you. Ed Snider died 5 years ago. This franchise has been around 54 years. If Ed Snider cared, you haven’t experienced the real pain of a franchise that doesn’t care yet.

291 points in 305 games in the past 5 seasons (including this one). That's 0.95 ppg. Hasn't missed a game during that span. 59% in FO. +34 in that span. Averaging about 54% in possession stats.

Not all leadership involves throwing a red-faced tantrum.
