291 points in 305 games in the past 5 seasons (including this one). That's 0.95 ppg. Hasn't missed a game during that span. 59% in FO. +34 in that span. Averaging about 54% in possession stats.

Sigh. Its called a COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT, or CBA for short. You should look it up sometime. Then maybe you will "get it". - MBFlyerfan
CBA does not prohibit Optional Practices...they happen all the time. |

Ownership doesn’t care. The Flyers are a drop in the bucket for the multi billion behemoth that is Comcast. The exec in charge, Dave Scott, knows about as much about building a successful hockey franchise as Carrottop
The GM is the poster child for both nepotism and mediocrity and the coach is a pedantic buffoon.
At this point, the best thing that could happen would be for Comcast to sell the team. - BiggE
I feel you on the ownership aspect. A real poor understanding of how to build.

We have had a fire-and-brimstone coach (Lavy), A disciplinarian tough nut (Berube), a player's coach (Hakstol), an intense tactical coach (AV). The problems have been common through each reign.
I kinda doubt it would have changed if the captain called for optional practices.

He is not Forsberg of 2005, who can singlehandedly take a bad team to playoff success. You don't win too many playoff series if Giroux/Couturier/Voracek are your first line.
Doesn't have much to do with his captaincy though.

They signed a big deal w ESPN, and now it’s hard to even find televised games worth watching. Sad sad sad..... - Hokeeguy9
But they do a segment on which player has the best pre-game outfit! That is great stuff!!

Add in Jake and Ghost producing at a high level to the list.
The pattern seems to be that this team simply has not been able to get the most out of their players, either vets or prospects.
There's a general dysfunction here from management on down. Everybody says the right things, seems to do the right things, but the minute the product hits the ice the whole thing starts to go sideways.
Throw more players and prospects into the grinder and you're not gonna get a different result. The players themselves are not the entire problem, as we've clearly seen as our discards go on to shine year after year. - Tomahawk

Yes everyone is frustrated but still I dont get it
Aube-Kubel plays for Avalanche
Robert Hagg does 18 minutes a game
Michael Raffl does 15 minutes 5on5 with Benn and Seguin
And about all 3 you heard last year that they are easy replaceable with better prospects
Where are all this prospect NOW - goenzoy
There were also Pitlick and Hartman that did not stick here |

Where are the prospects now?
Frost -- now seemingly back on track (fingers crossed), and in NHL.
Farabee -- blossomed last year, streaky season so far, currently injured.
Allison- Finally got healthy last year after torn ACL and a foot surgery. Showed promise in the AHL. High ankle sprain in Sept 2021 Rookie Game. Close to returning for Phantoms, not quite ready.
Laczynski -- Left hip surgery. Then right hip surgery. Out the entire 2021-22 season.
Foester -- separated collarbone late last season, injured shoulder this season. Currently out at least 5 months after surgery.
Rubtsov -- Following the 2016 draft, had broken nose, two concussions, shoulder surgery, another shoulder injury, wrist surgery and out again currently due to injury.
Ratcliffe -- Currently struggling in the AHL. Last season was a lost year due to broken ribs, collapsed lung and late season ankle injury/ surgery.
York -- Having rookie ups and downs in the AHL. Currently in Covid protocol.
Zamula -- Back surgery that cost him the second half of the 2019-20 season. Another injury this year in camp. Having a roller coaster second pro season. Still well-regarded long term.
Wisdom -- Showed promise in AHL last year until he had a nasty bout with Covid. Did come back to finish the season. Shoulder surgery in August. Close to being ready to play again at OHL level.

Actually, that first line is fine. It's the other lines that have been the issue. I personally hope that Giroux waives and is moved to a contending team. I think he deserves a legit shot at the Cup. He's no longer a player that can carry a team, as he did not that long ago. However he is still a really good player and would be coveted my many teams as a playoff rental.

Good captains demand things from their players. - bradster
Except they are not his players! He is no more or no less of a player than anyone else on the team. A captain's job is to lead by example and be a liaison between the players and the coaches. |

Fletcher is a joke. His Minnesota teams never won squat and were never Cup contenders. AV is just as big a joke. His “success” came on the backs of 2 HoF goaltenders.
Ed Snider cared, Comcast doesn’t. Stop drinking the Kool Aid - BiggE
Hmm .. the Wild are a top team this year, and most of those players came from Fletcher, including one of the most dynamic forwards in the game today, Kaprizov, whom Fletcher drafted! |

I understand, its frustrating that another 1st round pick is not making an impact on this team. I am still holding out hope for him. |
