Except we don’t live in a vacuum, because it would be impossible to breathe. Instead, we live in the eight-year reign of terror that has plagued these lands and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. It’s like a “Game of Thrones” spinoff show set purely about working the kitchens for Walder Frey. Nothing much happens here, but it’s not good.

None of it is good.

You would be tempted to think something about this loss felt different. That the team being booed off the ice, a jersey being tossed onto the ice, and the loudest “Fire Benning” chants to date all on national TV would finally be the spark of change that is so sorely desired in this market.

The endgame here is clearly no longer “Will the owner make the right hockey decision?” and has now firmly become “Will the owner become embarrassed enough to make changes,” which feels like an odd way to run a hockey team.

Remember when Vancouver used to be made fun of for trying to be innovative with sleep doctors? Those were the true Champagne-problem days.

Instead we remain stuck in some sort of modern Greek mythology, where we are doomed to repeat the same task, day in and day out.

You can almost picture Atlas holding up the Canucks on his shoulders, sweat dripping down his brow, forced smile on his face as people walk by him and tell him to “wait and see” how things turn out. A podcast would be made called the Zeuscast that would extol the virtues of the situation explaining how Zeus isn’t at fault because Brian Burke left him with no Titans in the cupboard.

“It’s only been an eternity, you have to give him a couple more years” they’d claim.

I fell asleep at the end of the first period last night, which actually wasn’t a bad period for the Canucks, Demko kept them in it a bit and Podkolzin played well.

Glad I shut it off….

I wonder how long before there's a very noticeable dip in sales and empty seats at the games. Another 10 games?

I'm coming back to Van for a week for Christmas and I think this will be the first year I won't try to go to a game

More like a POS team, fans have a right to be upset.

Canucks should be able to go 14-4-2 over the next 20 games.
Chicago W
Penguins OTL
Blue Jackets W
Bruins OTL
Canadiens W
Senators W
Penguins L

You’re 3-2-2 by my count.

This is one of the worst teams in recent history for me. Sure end of sedin era were bad teams, but you could see those teams still cared and showed some anger at losing sometimes. The level of care with this team is pathetic. An OEL stick swing is all the fight they have. Every team that beats them is laughing and jovial down the stretch even in their barn. They’re just such an easy out.

Bieksa kinda defended them and said they’re not that kind of team, but one way or another they should show some care if they want to stay together and get through it together. They’ve clearly given up on their coach, GM and to a lesser extent, each other.

Worst goal differential in the first 25 games in 35 years or something.

This is probably the worst start I remember. Green has broken every player. Personnel changes haven't helped this team at all.

Yesterday most passes through the slot in a game in history. Miller is just terrible at centre. There's no reason why he needs to be there.

The nhl stats says Miller had no give aways yesterday, at this point I think they are just being nice to Miller. He has 10 a game at min.

I’m not sure? Long rainy winters means the games are an outlet, something to do.

I don’t even care to watch on tv anymore though, we used to spend $1000 dollars to go watch a game when we lived on the island. Ferry, hotels, game tickets, meals, it was fun…when they were good. We haven’t made that trek across in years to watch the crap product they’re putting out there, and I’m sure it’s a similar story for many islanders.

That 5 on 3 was complete BS. The amount of times that refs don't call blatant, glaring penalties on a 5 on 4 so that there is not 5 on 3 is a long list. So why are they giving one on such a weak cross checking call? And then to throw a 3rd guy in the box?

Really, I thought they just weren't very good again.

It's astonishing how they Canucks get up for games nightly. A team that has been about "we are relentless" and Green's camps are so difficult to get players in shape.

I think I need GM Jim Benning to tell me something is wrong so I know what is wrong.

If it wasn't for the refs then the Canucks easily would have won with their uninspired and passionless play and their AHL defense.

Cross check? Push with the glove and a light one at that, they didn’t play well though.

The new DJ is really killing it. Nobody would have thought to play Sweet Caroline with the team down by 3 late - to get the crowd back in it!

While the owners stand back and allow it to happen. You'd think they might have taken the cue from the Hab's?

They're as incompetent as the management structure they assembled.
