Right. Because counterbalancing the $7M owed to Connolly against the $6M to Erikkson and swapping a 2nd for a 3rd for the trouble is dumb. Couple that with AZ being a floor risk next year and more importantly they will need some NHL bodies just to justify their existence and won’t be luring any free agents anytime soon while CHI will be looking for cap space to support their endless quick fix.

The trade that makes the most sense is MAF to the Oilers with Duncan Keith coming back to the Hawks

No one needs him. Oilers, Avs and Pens goalies are all outplaying MAF by a country mile. He’s not a guy that will make a difference any more. If Chicago wanted to move him they’d need to retain and add a sweetener.
