Love me a good fairy tale.
If the Canucks win the cup in a year or two. Does Benning get any credit? - manvanfan
lol that's the thing if the team does show signs of a turnaround under this roster Benning assembled is he actually the genius?

OR was it his fault he had a coach forced upon him that he didn't want? 7.5 years as a GM of any team is a good tenure.
I'm sure either way Benning is glad to be rid of the negative Van media. |

I don’t think that scenario will play out under any circumstances but he did some good things, so yes of course, at the end of the day the bad was greater than the good….obviously. |

Classic Van fan. Strong feelings.
I don't think I've even cracked a smile at all the firings even though I wanted the coaching staff gone. - manvanfan
Me neither, unfortunate all the way around, something is broken, may as well start fixing it now. |

Let’s see the success first and then we’ll debate then. |

My disdain for him grew out of philosophy more so than singular moves. Some of that falls on ownership, maybe more than Benning himself. At the end of the day we are now moving on with new people, so I’m happy! - LeftCoaster
I remember exactly what and when it started with you. Before you were even criticizing his moves you started poopting on him for how he sounded when he spoke. I said then that's how it starts with the hate. You said you were not that shallow.... but you continued to ridicule him over how dumb he sounded and it progressed to idiot blah blah blah. |

The only “good” that he did is stuff that is expected of a decent GM. It’s not like he pulled a Quinn and fandangled us a Bure.
His mistakes were inexcusable and showed most who were paying attention or not blinded by their fandom that he was way over his head. |

It’s the guy I wanted so if it don’t work out then I have nothing to gripe about. |

He has a proven track record, the last two coaches didn't.
Build from the net out, Demko is there, deal a forward or 2 for defence.

The holes JB couldn't fill won't be fixed over night. Probably won't see for a few years what the last couple years will produce either.
As I monitor Canucks prospects I see a lot of good value in picks compared to earlier years especially in the later rounds.

Acquire a couple of good D-men if the opportunity presents itself, you may see quicker results.

I'd deal a forward for a draft pick or good defensive prospect but I think Jim missed the bus on dealing for a defender that Van could use.
Ryan Graves, Devon Toews probably should have been acquired over Garland and OEL. |

100%, get a good one (or two), they have lots of depth at forward. Try to keep your high picks for a change.

Would be a good draft to have at least a full set of picks.
See what the new coach thinks though. First game's tonight. I wonder how the team reacts to the change. |

The constant mishandling of lines and personnel when injuries occurred had led the team the point where the players had lost faith and more so had lost their own identities.
Is EK talking about Green and Baumer or AV and Therrien??? |

Maybe because he’s younger, still malleable and did what Green asked him to do? It’s his first year in the NHL no? |
