They're off today, does that mean the players have the complete day off, or are they just off the ice? - Dkos
I would hope they are at least watching film

Flyers claimed defensemen Kevin Connauton off waivers. He's better than Seeler at least. - PLindbergh31

His play right now is less of a problem than Yandle's.
IOW: Right now, Yandle shouldn't be an NHL player. |

They were 8-4-2 before their 9 game losing streak. How wasnt that an ability to be in the playoff race? - xShoot4WarAmpsx
It is. The 9 game losing streak with a 0-7-2 not so much. Chose your poison…are they closer to the first or the last? Either way, they definitely need to start winning if playoffs are going to be a hope in the fan stockings this year; then improve as a team.

Better choice than Tocchet but goes against everything CF said yesterday

Fletcher should have been gone before Vigneault. Vigneault has got two teams to the SCF, what's Fletcher's career highlight?

That record was built on tremendous goaltending and some hot shooting by a few players. At the same time they were being drastically out shot in attempts and bleeding scoring chances against. Long term that is not sustainable.

Since the underlying metrics have basically been the same throughout the season, I would say they are somewhere in the middle but closer to the latter.

Fletcher has his name on the Cup. AV does not. |

I don't think he's mentally fragile. It's the culmination of having to play game in and game out, often without an equal top pairing partner on a team that lack defensive detail and support. - MJL
Did not watch Provorov recently but he was the guy who completed ELC without missing a single game and in one year even topped any player in icetime apart from 4 in the whole league.26 teams without a single player TOI wise |

We are stuck with 9 & 14 and 14'w new contract has not even kicked in. It is going to be a fun decade - mr4tno
Poor us. We’re stuck with Provorov and Couturier… |

Middle for sure, but in saying that, it looks worse than it is right now. Winning, getting healthy and on the same page as a team would go a long way is showing what they can be. Just don’t dig the hole bigger.

I didn't say that - don't run that game on me. Also, he didn't lose.
In addition to their weak defense, starting a rookie goalie added to the potential of the Flyers being able to score a higher than average number of goals. |

Trotz worked a lot of miracles in Nashville without much except Pekka Rinne and a commitment to team defense and did very well with the Isles with more talent and a similar team commitment. I think the Isles lost their edge this year for whatever reason.. you lose an ounce of buying into a method, get a second slower etc things dont work the same...Take him in a heartbeat and allow him to have input into player moves.. |

It is a nine game losing streak - corduroy
You’re right. But the NHL says Bill is right too. All losses are not created equal. Call it woke point distribution.

I believe the correct term/phrase would be a 9 game points streak.
Now the real question is, are they 7 games over .500 during that streak or only 5? |

Just shows the difference between the level of play in preseason and the regular season. Which is why we should also slow our roll on evaluating young players based on their preseason play...and why they need to look like they are tearing it up instead of just holding their own. - MBFlyerfan
Yeah, I totally understand that at ES, where the compete and time/space shrink considerably when games matter.
But the PP as well? He went from looking like a godsend at the point to a toothless corpse.
Never seen a starker difference before.
