He makes Dave Scott feel listened to.
(It really feels like he didn't want to fire AV but somebody told him he should, and he listened)

Are we ready to face reality and rebuild yet?
Or are there still some in the organization who believe the mirage. |

"Retool" #3 incoming (or maybe #4, I've lost count) |

Fletchers NHL moves are in direct contradiction with this. Did you read the transcript from the AV firing presser where Mike Yeo talked about playing slow and how thinking about what to do instead of reacting makes you play slow? Look, the Flyers don't have a player that can match the speed and skill that Makar and McKinnnon bring to the ice. Those are two big pieces. While the Flyers are certainly not a team that I would consider a fast team, they aren't slow either. They tend to play slow. If Fletcher recognizes this lack of speed and skill then why did he trade Voracek and bring in a lesser skilled and slower player in Atkinson? I've been telling you that Ristolainen was the wrong type of defenseman to commit those assets to. Maybe it's sinking in. - MJL
You are blind. Voracek was no speed demon. Atkinson works his ass off each and every shift. That trade was a slam dunk. More heart in Cam than the entire team. |

I wonder if Sean Couturier has been taking notes from Claude, on how his career is likely to go.
Not sure why Fletcher is being allowed to stay on in any capacity. This team has gone backwards since his hiring. He should not be allowed to oversee any coaching hire. His evaluations, be it for which players to covet, or which personnel to implement into the organization have largely been failures.
Scott better be actively looking for a replacement. |

If they were 7-0-2 would that be a 9 game lossless streak? - Scoob
Isn’t 7-0-2 really 8-1? How do you know which tie is a win and which is a loss?

I dont like Torts as a coach and not a fan of the way he treats players.
However, this team deserves it. I want them to suffer like I've suffered watching the play the last decade. |

Such a strange angle.
There has been so much turnover since Hextall was initially hired that I am not sure how anyone can still blame the players.
This clearly goes so far beyond anyone on the ice, or behind the bench. The one that should be suffering, is Fletcher or anyone that has had a hand in directing the development of the Flyers prospects. The idea that the players don't care, or don't try is just a lazy narrative often spewed by the Flyer beats. Nothing but cowards who refuse to name the real problems.
If the players simply suck so much, why not look at who put them all together? |

It's really something to behold if they are not.
Interest is being lost, and ticket sales are harder, and harder to come by.
The path they are currently on, will simply lead to more of that. I usually try to stay civil, but what blind moron still believes that they are a couple good trades, or a good summer away from having a contention window that lasts longer than a Carter Hart hot streak?
People don't buy it anymore, and rightfully so. Rebuild, and stop further damaging a brand that's losing its lustre. |

Yeah, I totally understand that at ES, where the compete and time/space shrink considerably when games matter.
But the PP as well? He went from looking like a godsend at the point to a toothless corpse.

How can you not blame the players? Why is it that these same players play great during contract years and then disappear once they're paid?

Not in the NHL. 7-0-2, 16 pts. 7-2, 14 pts

I'll entertain this thought.
If what you say is true, who gives out those contracts? Who is in charge of talent evaluation when it comes to contract negotiations and team building? |

Right, but evaluating the game result there is just one question: Did you win? |

How do you accurately predict whether a player will stop producing once hes paid?
I dont think you can. I'm not saying Fletcher doesnt bare any blame, but the players have sucked under 3 general managers and 4 or 5 coaches. |
