We shall see. I hope you're right, but I saw him get pushed off the puck very easily several times last night and we already know about some of his injury woes. - Phillywhiteout
I saw him make play after play. I saw him control the puck in tight spaces and look to make plays. I saw him as a player that can help to control a game and increase attack time.

Perhaps, but he's awful new to the organization. He may be the only viable candidate though. - Phillywhiteout
I think being new the organization is a plus! |

Because if he plays good he will need to be paid...do we want to be paying MORE players when we're trash? |

I mean, Giroux has always looked small and obviously he has had long successful(personally...not team wise) career, but Frost looks even smaller to me. Bring in Johnny Hockey and pair them together with Atkinson. I'm just babblin now and have to run. |

All I care about is getting high-end talent....if a non- playoff team likes him? Peace, I'll take my chances in the draft.

The worst possible thing for the organization right now would be for them to rip off some kind of win streak to get Fletcher thinking his process is correct. They absolutely need to sell at the deadline but knowing who is really pulling the strings, this won't happen unless they are mathematically eliminated.
It's going to take a lot more losing for this Comcast run organization to look in the mirror and do some self-reflecting. |

Fletchers NHL moves are in direct contradiction with this. Did you read the transcript from the AV firing presser where Mike Yeo talked about playing slow and how thinking about what to do instead of reacting makes you play slow? Look, the Flyers don't have a player that can match the speed and skill that Makar and McKinnnon bring to the ice. Those are two big pieces. While the Flyers are certainly not a team that I would consider a fast team, they aren't slow either. They tend to play slow. If Fletcher recognizes this lack of speed and skill then why did he trade Voracek and bring in a lesser skilled and slower player in Atkinson? I've been telling you that Ristolainen was the wrong type of defenseman to commit those assets to. Maybe it's sinking in. - MJL
I don't think Fletcher thought that Cam was slower and less skilled than Jake, and to be honest I didn't either. Cam just has a different skillset that at the time was thought to be a better fit, i.e. tenacious on the forecheck, shoot first mentality and good on the PK. Though I have seen flashes of these things from Cam, to be honest I am really disappointed in his play overall so far.
As far as Risto, sure, he is not Cake Makar or Adam Fox or even Charlie McAvoy. But Risto still is IMO a good defenseman that adds an element to the backend that every team needs. I would love to keep Risto on this team, but for me the reality has sunk in that this team needs a complete reset, and Risto is an asset that right now we can't afford to keep. Given his contract status and given what he might be asking for, and given where this Flyers team is, the time is not right to commit to a player like Risto IMO. Thus I have concluded trading him along with TK and G are the best options for this team to reset in the offseason. |

There are Adam Foxes out there? We are just going to find a Norris winning Dman haha. Do you even read your posts? The Flyers have also missed on every big name free agent to come out the last 5 years or so. The best we got was Kevin 45 point Hayes - ClaudeFather
Kevin Hayes was a bad signing IMO, he was big and slow before his injuries and he looks even slower now. But it was an area of need given what happened with Patrick and I believe AV had a lot to do with targeting Hayes, which was unfortunate. Like I said in another post, not recognizing where the game was going and making inappropriate personnel decisions. The Rangers and the Jets proved to be much smarter than the Flyers in this instance, no doubt about it. |

I just wonder why he doesn't have the fanfare of McDavid....isn't he breaking his OHL records? - DrMidnite
No he’s not breaking records….he is really, really good. Think John Taveras good not Mcdavid. |

If they are out of it which they probably will be I would ask Giroux if you he would accept a trade at the deadline I would also ask if he would be open to coming back and then have Couturier as the Captain moving forward. IMO Giroux is definitely not a problem on this team, and ideally I would like to see him finish his career as a Flyer. - 3flyerkids
Only Flyers fans could stand behind captain mediocrity & want him back thinking he’s not the problem after winning nothing during his tenure consistently having his teams beinconsistent.
Franchises like Boston who actually won cups let their captain (Chara) walk. NJ let Brodeur leave - yes he wasn’t captain but was face of the franchise. SJ marleau & Thornton walk. NYI Taveras. Ana Corey Perry - cup winner. NYR Lundqvist. Minny Suter & Parise.
All teams are now better off after turning the page. Yet, ppl here clamor for G after accomplishing squat because he was your childhood hero or something it’s laughable |

This is an example of correctly projecting what a players ceiling is and determining if they are going to become a top talent in the league or just another player. If the Flyers feel Frost's ceiling is not that high but is still an asset other teams may want, you have to use that to get you closer to landing some top end talent. I like what I have seen from Frost since he has been called up, but so far he has not shown to be anywhere close to an untouchable part of the Flyers' future. |

What is going on with Coots?
Last 13 GP: 0 g, 2 a, -9
We all know that all the home growns and FA experiments from JvR to Hayes to Konecny to Lindblom to Laughs and Farabee are all bottom six players, but Coots is our legit top center. He gets plenty of ice time, he gets G on the wing, plenty of offensive zone starts, and he looks easier to take off the puck than Frost.
Is he injured or something?
If we do a real rebuild, which we should, is he worth more as picks and prospects?

Do we have a choice? I'd rather start the rebuild NOW then wait until the off season.
Isn't this years & next year's draft stacked? Maybe it's all for the best. - DrMidnite
Yes the 2022 draft is looking pretty good. The 2023 draft is looking deep so far as well. This would be a good time to load up on draft picks and look to create a bright future.
Unfortunately we traded our 2nd round pick to Arizona to dump Ghost and traded our 2023 2nd round pick in the Risto trade.
People can laugh all they want at Arizona but they're going to be adding some serious talent this draft. Three 1st round picks and five 2nd round picks. Possibly 2 picks in the top 5. I wish. |

That's due to an overall lack of confidence. No leader is going to change that with speeches in the locker room. The Flyers need to improve as a team. Fix the detail in their play. That is what is going to fix it. - MJL
Yes, and evidently AV and MT ( and presumably to a lesser percentage Yeo) could not do that...I do not know all the details of the AV scheme and if it caused brain freeze or they were not skilled enough/fast enough to execute.
Even at an amateur level, being on a bad team is a cycle of self doubt that needs to be broken. That is the best they can hope for as you say, play fast. the puck moves faster than players etc...

It has nothing to do w speeches. It’s leading by attitude & effort. Not scoring 2 goals in a game & still being a minus 1
