The first questionable decision, to me, was the one that left Bass kicking that 4th quarter attempt into the wind.

Couldn't agree more đź‘Ť

At the game, I didnt pick up on McDermott's decision.
Found out after the game, he chose kicking against the wind in the 4th?

Has there been an explanation?
Maybe he wanted the wind to score and get up early?
Make new England throw?

IMO, it was going ultra-conservative run/run/pass on the very first possession with the wind and great field position. Scared coaching from the start.

Seemed like very predictable play calling from the start.
Continued all game.
I'm suprised they didnt run allen 10-12 times.

Not sure what's going on between Sean and Daboll, but Bill clearly gets in their head. Those 2 lost that game.

This is the one that I can’t get past. I know you don’t want him to get hurt and they are running him less this year. But the dudes an X factor and if there were any game you should have leaned on his legs more it was this one. More scared coaching!

Yes, choosing the ball over having the wind in the fourth, indicates they planned on being very aggressive and trying to build a comfortable lead by the time the fourth quarter started. And then they did as you described. It was strange

They try and outsmart bill. Allen was throwing the ball pretty good. They kept running, everyone knew exactly what to expect.

It's kinda strange, our identity is throw to set up the run.

Its almost as if the pegula's told these guys to stop running the 258 million $ guy.
Now daboll is handcuffed.

Absolutely

And I was worried about allen getting hurt earlier this year. Ran a 2point conversion up a bunch.

Monday though... use your best player

The Allen designed runs aren't great. Allen gets his rushing yards on scrambles when d is in man coverage. They tried a designed run for Allen and he got absolutely hammered by 3 Patriots that were waiting for him. Maybe you weren't at your seats yet. The entire defense was ready to pounce on him. You want big plays, then they need to design more RPO's where the run option is Allen scrambling. The line doesn't need to get more than 1 yard down the field. They don't clear anyone out any way.

Bills last 3 drives in the red zone started with 3 runs by moss and Singletary for a total of 2 yards. I know it was windy
But that’s just stupid play calling. Try a play action pass or a run/pass option by your best running back (Allen). Just really stupid coaching. Since when had moss or Singletary around the goal line worked?

Really, the only difference this year was the red zone. Allen's numbers were very similar to last year.

Even with the game Monday, he's still on pace for 4288 yards(16 game season) and 35 TDs vs 4544 and 37. He was never going to sustain almost 70% completion, and he's at 65.7% which is still good; ahead of Mahomes and half a point behind Rodgers. 7th in yards and 4th in TDs. His INTs are up, already equaling last year, but I'm not concerned. He's had 3 or 4 that weren't his fault.

gotten more conservative, forcing the run, defenses have adapted, crowd noise, bad penalties, injuries

Some combination of those, but they also had a lot of breaks last year. They've had chances to win most of these games on their final drive and come up empty.

I think Daboll put too much credit into thinking opposing defenses would adapt to how they played. I swear the play calling changed in last year's playoffs. Allen is best throwing the ball 15-20 yards down field. I would assume stats would show he is extremely accurate and he has this rare velocity that does not give defenders enough time to get to it. The Kurt Warner deep in. They say it is the most difficult throw for a QB to make and it is what Allen is best at. My favorite pass of last year, possibly Allen's career, was the pass he willed over the outreached arms of the great Fred Warner right to Gabe Davis in stride in tight coverage. Never saw it again. I don't know, maybe defenses took them away or Allen is ejecting too early, but I swear pass patterns they had great success on are rarely called. Seems like everything is 5-10 yards. Why? No team can consistently sustain td scoring drives when you are moving 10 yards every 3 downs. They need chunk plays.

I really think you nailed it. Coaching isn’t very good. They don’t seem to adjust through out the game. Belicheck is the master at that.

Josh allen the unicorn needs to do what josh allen does to separate himself from the qb field.

Run aggressive, get first downs, move the chains , put up points and play some hero ball...

Like last year when we were good.

Of course,: scrambling plays lead to more big rushing plays, hard to do when your running on 1st and 2nd.

Allen under C, with Moss in the game just doesn't work for them. 9/10 times, it's just a wasted down....yet they still do it at key times. It's like watching an identity crisis.

Part of the reason Allen isn't running as effectively is they aren't spreading the field or using 5 wide sets anymore. They can claim there isn't a disconnect between the HC and OC, or even Tpegs, but McD keeps talking about being physical, run and stop the run, and winning in the trenches, but they're built for throwing.

Edit: McD is coaching scared and conservative, trying to protect JA, and making Daboll call a more balanced game
