Day drinking? - NorthNuck
I should be, everything that was supposed to be ready so I can schedule my crew isn't. 2 1/2 hours later we are finally almost where we should have been at 8am. |

Sounds like the Canucks are getting Jim Rutherford in either a president or gm role (or both). The same guy who traded for gudbranson, and gave Mike Matheson a ridiculous extension. - Codes1087
God I hope not |

He didn’t trade a first for Reeves. It was a swap of picks and players - CanuckDon
it was Reaves and a 2nd for Sundqvist and a 1st.
Sundqvist was a good penguins prospect at the time.
It was most certainly a very lopsided trade for STL. |

Things are escalating between veteran NHL executive, Jim Rutherford and the Vancouver Canucks. A deal is expected to get done, although sources won’t confirm if it’s for the presidents role or both president and GM. - VanHockeyGuy
Would very much like him not to be with the Canucks |

This may be true if we had Malkin & Crosby in their prime
I might have flagged that by accident, if I did I’m not sorry. |

Jim Rutherford: There’s a lot of industry smoke around the Canucks’ pursuit of Jim Rutherford, with Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reporting that the Canucks have “done their due diligence” on the three-time Stanley Cup winner. Friedman has suggested that if the club decides to move on Rutherford, the search could end sooner rather than later.
Rutherford, 72, is the biggest and most experienced available name. He’s won three Stanley Cups as a general manager, across two different franchises and in two different decades. He’s adaptable and extraordinarily aggressive on the trade market. He’s also mentored and developed a number of NHL executives — current GMs Tom Fitzgerald and Bill Guerin were both on Rutherford’s staff in Pittsburgh — and has a track record of incorporating analytics into player personnel decisions.
However, there were some serious trouble spots that Rutherford and the Penguins ran into late in his tenure as general manager, in terms of some misguided trades and contractual commitments, prior to his surprise resignation just seven games into the 2021 season. That said, as an incoming president of hockey operations — and it’s expected that Rutherford would be given a president’s title in Vancouver — with a vast network and a proven record of delivering championships, his resume is unmatched.
Landing Rutherford would require a significant financial commitment and there are some in the industry that wonder if the club might prefer more affordable options. If Rutherford is the choice, however, we’ll likely know soon enough.
From an article tonight on the Athletic. If he's coming in as a Pres, that wouldn't be Benning bad. Do not want him as a GM |

I really hope it's not true, but if it is I hope it's only a Pres role. He helped build championship teams, but taking away the trading and drafting aspects would be best. Still hoping for Chris MacFarland |
